    I never knew that existed! Mom always sent me to the garage and get dad's largest set of water pump pliers (channel locks for the whippersnappers!).

    For lids that are hard to get off, I use an oil filter wrench or a pair of water pump pliers.

    It's a bottle capper and a larger one that was operated by foot was a kick press which would accomplish similar assembly tasks . Today, you would rarely consider human power for repetitive tasks, especially for large volumes.

    There was one that had my name painted on it when I was a kid, dad made it from some scrap poplar...it got used. I deserved it every single time it did get used (which was maybe couple-three times a year for two or three years). Parents made a theater of it and it had an impact on me (no pun). It taught me two things...don't do bad things my parents told me not to do and more importantly...if I did it anyways...don't get caught!

    I also received 'cracks' in elementary school once. Once was all it took (paddle was much larger than Dad's, and the paddler was less sympathetic).
