Ok, I’m the worst at the I’d game. Craigslist score. Free. Owner says it’s oak. As bad as I am at id I’d say that’s maple. Could be wrong, wouldn’t be surprised. Assuming it’s maple is it a hard maple or soft maple?
I think youre right looks more like maple than oak. And when i zoom in on the 2nd pic, theres a piece on the right side that has a small limb attached...the twigs on the limb are opposite each other, not alternate, which is maple. Looks like red maple to me, but we dont have many hard maples around here so i could be wrong...
Looks more like maple than oak. Looking some more, it doesn't really look like typical red maple or norway maple and the bark on the trunk base ( it's kinda hard to tell) doesn't look 'flakey' enough for silver maple. I'd guess sugar maple or maybe even Crimson King maple if it had burgundy leaves all year as they were a common planted specimen tree for a long time.
It is definitely maple Joe. Pretty sure its red, but could be Norway. Not sugar. Close by? You taking any?
Not close to me but close to the woman’s house,,,,,and that one locust. Was toying with the idea of going after that locust and no sense coming home with a 1/4 trailer load. Havent contacted them. Could be gone by now. Guess I still have that collecting gene idling in the background. What I really need to do is get my processing gene in gear LOL If it was a hard maple I’d think harder. Soft I have enough. Thanks for the info.
Dont feel bad Joe, a true hoarder has that gene trump the other! Im guilty of it myself. Have 5+ cord, 3 oak, 2 hickory in rounds to split, but im going for locust now
