Being from Wisconsin -20 is very common this time of the year. Last year we had what they call a poler vortex come through. It was any were from -40 to -64F for day time high for about 4 days. Though as long as there is no wind I don't really feel much of a difference after -20. With wind is a whole different story. As my brother likes to say. It's so cold you need a pepper shaker and a pair of tweezers just to take a pi$$

-64 did that make you folks the coldest town on Earth ? Also when it's that cold where do you buy and what kind of gloves do you wear to keep warm ?

    Wind chill, friend.... wind chill!

When I was working (did I mention yet today that I'm fully retired??? :D ) it was on those days that even the pipe wrenches would burn cold through any gloves that were worn.

Stupid crappy job. Couldn't wait to get out of those conditions. But, it was worth it and now the earnings are paying off every day!

It was mentioned that the -64 came from a polar vortex without the wind chill. If I remember correctly there's a place in Russia called the coldest town on earth and their temps was in the -50 range. So at -64 that tops them.Wow !

I believe that school isn't cancelled until the temps hit -55 there also.

38 cloudy. Did get an inch or 2 last nite. Seeing melting on the roof so ya know the ground is slush. Temps take a nose dive tonight. Going to 0. High of 11 tomorrow. Single digit over night then back to high 20s/30's.

Negative 21 wind chill right now and must have been negative 40 or so last night, big pieces of Oak going in the stove which is eating wood like it's got a right to.

33* outside 68* inside. Just reloaded for the evening. Been chugging along on coals from the 5 AM loading.
Predicted low tonight 9* high tomorrow 18* and low 8*. Filled the inside wood rack with some good stuff. That should get me through the cold snap. Returns to the mid *30s Sat.

Temperature dropping to ten overnight. Came home and scoured my woods for splits that hadn’t been hauled in, and put three Muleloads into the woodshed. Mostly maple with a touch of oak.

Lol sorry did not see your first post. Well when it gets really cold there is some shrinkage so the pepper would be for some heat and the tweezers would be to hold your small part after the pepper warms it up enough to see again. Now as far as I know it's just a saying so I wouldn't head outside to see if it really works
