Been waiting for this

Spring like weather today. Sold a cord of wood this morning and got down to cut up the windfall.
Chain was cutting well but saw was losing power. Quick trip to the shop to clean the carb and it was running like new.

You guys have been inundated with rain lately hope we get some weather soon. We need more snow in the mtns!!

 

Boy I wish it looked like that here. We just got 1.5 more inch's of snow today

 

Those old Shindaiwa saws are pretty sturdy. I’ve only been able to destroy one due to my own stupidity.
Lots of rain as you say. Advantageous not to live in the lowlands.

Are you in a jungle? I've never seen moss like that on a tree that was worth cutting for firewood!

 

We just had over 50 days of rain in a row. Supposed to start up again tuesday here. Cut while the cutting's good!

 

Not quite a rain forest zone but pretty close to it. Moss grows on most of the Alders here.

Do you have to put the wood in a shed to get the moss to die? If it dried out, looks like it would be good tinder right on the split!

 

I have the same curiousity about the moss since I've never been in this type of timber. What's the next step? Split, stack and let the moss dry up or do you have to peel that off? It seems to me it would be a seasoning issue with the moss and a wetter climate. There's always something new to learn on FHC.

 

I thought the PNW Was considered rain forest.

 

Go to the Pacific Northwest and you'll see that everywhere, well until you get too far east.
