Temps dropped pretty good last night in SoVt...actually feels like winter! I moved a few sled loads of hardwood this morning. That was followed by splitting some pine for kindling. I was actually running a little low despite all that I split this summer. Amazing how easily wood pops when the temps are below freezing. It’s really effortless and the wood just flies apart. Pic isn’t the best, but you can see the holes and in the pile and the bits left from splitting. It’s 19 outside; low to mid 70’s indoors. Ahhhhh! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
spent about 45 minutes in the woods today. Left the splitter there. Have been cutting on a double branch tree top of 8 to 12 inch logs. Getting this cut and out of the way gives an opening to the valley below, full of tops, and flat ground. The woods was as quiet as a church.
Lots of advantages of splitting in the cold, not much sweat, don’t have to stop to hydrate every 5 minutes, no bugs, good exercise when the weather is crappy, what else is there to do outside in the winter...,
