I highly recommend an NVMe m.2 drive (in PCIE not SATA). SSD's are fast but a good NVMe is about 6 times faster. I'm getting about 3000 MB/s transfer speed on mine.
The Samsung EVO's are nice but Intel just came out with a cheaper process based on QLC NAND.

The nvme’s are nice, but even a sata ssd makes life so much better than waiting on a mechanical drive.

My NVMe drive is polluted by a copy of Winders that came with my 14TB+ monster beast.

    Oh yeah I have a 04 RAV4.

I second this statement as when I added one to my rig 1 gig Nvme m.2 it was amazing the increase in speed. I upgraded from a 2700x to a 3900x and am quite happy along with a Red Devil RX 5700 XT which is so much more than Nvidia has to offer bang for the buck wise. Quite happy with my rig but the 2700x served me well for a while, I had it sitting in a 470 mobo so it was just a bios flash before I dropped in the 3900x . Trying not to waste money on the 570 mobo but have almost pulled the trigger a few times....
Have a Saphire Vega 64 video card along with the 2700x just sitting so if I were to get a 570 mobo they would go into a build for my father or my Nephew or maybe a sever . So the 570 may still happen.

Rained like a mother on the way home as soon as I hit Luneyburg it turned to snow and now it is somewhat sunny out. Winds picking up so the Ice is blowing off the trees which I hope continues before the temps drop , should do some more ice removal but to fricking tired after another stupid day at work , sipping some TeeKillya and enjoying it quite a bit so much that the ice can stay for now. Wow like a hail storm with the ice dropping off the trees that are getting blown around by the wind, cats and dog are freaking out hearing all the ice hit the roof.

Crap power just went down less than 500' up the street , we are obviously on another grid but am hoping we keep our power or its out to the garage and pull out and fire up the Genny which has not been run in a couple of months ! Single digits tonight and no power = pain in the azz for me ..... Hoping we don't loose power

Happy Friday folks I have tomorrow off but back at it Sunday .

Sanded the driveways about 11 and it started sleeting in a major way. Put off going to the dump because radar showed that the skies would be clearing soon. Went out about 1 and worked out my arms, shoulders and legs for about 40 minutes cleaning up the snow dumpage. It was very heavy with all the soaked up sleet.

Went to the transfer station right after shoveling as it was just a freezing drizzle at that point. Started back with the sleet shortly after I got home and has been sleeting, with a short break for snow, since then. The roof is now dumping sheets of ice - I cleaned the ice dumpage from the ramp a few minutes ago and it doesn't look like it is letting up at all. Drive to Concord early tomorrow morning will be interesting unless something changes drastically overnigh.

Just looked out the window and it looks like the wind is starting to kick up. At least it was very calm thru the snow and sleet.

Yeah, been sleeting heavy off and on here all day. 3 driveway scrapings by shovel to keep the ice down. Now snowing and will do one last (I hope) cleanup in a little while.
Snowblower still making noise when auger us running, just not loud. No bad spots turning by hand but I should take a look inside the gearbox/tranny.

Still calm here wind-wise but hard snow is winding down. Wind is the temp drop coming so last chance to get up not yet completly frozen chit off the driveways.

The poor fir shrub has been pretty well flattened by the sleet (this was taken 1 this afternoon)

flattened fir in backyard - ice.jpg

Tracks in the driveway from when I went to the dump; went thru about 1/2 to 3/4 inch of sleet, and filled in with another 1" or more. So glad I sanded ;)

Benefits to living on the seacoast. No ice or snow. Temp has dropped though as the wind is picking up. Down to 34.

And with the sun down and temps dropping like a rock, the town plow came thru as I was making sure my gates weren't frozen shut. Sorry, the first image is blurry as I was in a hurry to get my gloves back on and start shoveling

    berm.jpg

I thought the roof dumpage was heavy - that was amateur hour. Anything further than 3 feet away from the side being shoveled to was dragged by the shovel full, dumped out and thrown as two shovel loads. Got the paved end taken care of, the rest is staying there.

Lights flickered a couple times as I was downloading the pictures to make the last post. Guess I know why now - that road is 4 blocks from me. Thankfully, I didn't lose power. Hope they get it back up soon for those people as it has already dropped another 2* in 15 minutes.
