Got a notice today. Now, most know, I do Henry's webpage... However.. I am NO developer at all. I use the ancient Front Page.. The page is VERY basic. I love WYSIWYG. Anyone can do it, even me, with no tech knowledge at all.. So this is the message: I suspect.. that it is probly for more advance sites with all sorts of techie stuff in it.. So I am thinking, that this will have no impact on us at all. ??? We will no longer support PHP 5.3 on our shared hosting platform. June 1 2020 With this announcement, any domains using PHP 5.3 in a shared environment will automatically be changed to PHP 5.6. If you are currently utilizing PHP 5.3 on any of your websites, you are strongly encouraged to switch to a more recent version. I really don't care about "what" it is, I doubt I'd understand anyway... like most of the stuff you computer guys talk about.. I'm usually lost at the first sentence.. I just want to know if it affects us.. Thanks... Dan
If you are just putting up text, pictures, and links you are not using PHP. PHP is a programming language that lets you create output or do calculations based on the user that is viewing it. I think FRONT PAGE WYSIWUG has an EOL (End of Life) sometime in 2020 but there are similar Microsoft products available. KaptJaq
Moving this to the everything else thread. Because it isn't stove related and might get more views as well. Carry on!!
Front Page doesn't require PHP at all now I don't know anything about the website's requirements so I can't answer your question, nor can anyone else other than the site's maintainer.
Thanks so much.. that is what I was thinking.. The site is very simple.. just pictures, tables and links.. Dan
