No cash. Money ruins friendships. Sometimes it’s inevitable but don’t be the first to suggest it.
This is a farmer who made his life working the land. He sees you as a worker of the land too. I’m sure he appreciates hard workers. If you were a banker he might pull out the 12 gauge to get you off the property.
You can apologize again and ask him if there’s any way to make amends. Don’t pull out a wad of cash. Chances are good he’ll look down on you for that. Just another city slicker trying to buy his way on the property. JMO

Once you have delivered a home baked pie, and he has accepted your apology, move on after a nice firm hand shake. :handshake:

I agree with getting a more firm idea on what he wants you to cut. You are probably doing a better job at cleaning up the site that he has time or is willing to do himself.

So, go to the Wal-Mart & buy a couple of cans of white primer spray paint (the bottom shelf stuff for $.98 a can). Then when you are doing the "woods walk" with him, when he points to one he wants gone, spray your initials on it. The "leave no doubt method" you know?

That is unless you have a "FHC" branding iron to mark the territory!!! :bug:

    Best of luck!

Congratulations on the new baby. Start them young and train them properly. This is our grandson, he got his for Christmas this year. He turned 3 in January. I couldn't find the Stihl, but he is happy. 0103201114.jpg
Oh, welcome to the club too, if I missed you earlier.

Took him a bottle of bourbon and a six pack. The only thing to say is that he was tickled.

He was out back loading up equipment for a customer and his wife drove me in their UTV. She kept laughing and saying oh you didn’t need to do that he’s fine. His son cracked up and said yeah, he likes those walnuts.

I’m glad I didn’t give him some cash! He seemed to like this way better!

thank you all for your valuable input!

Sounds like it worked out good. Your in his good graces now. That means something if he’s like any of the old farmers I grew up around.
    Congrats on the boy coming.

If you have enough logs, even that size are worth something. Definitely not 1000-1500 I'll tell you that.

My cutting buddy has been taking logs that size and smaller to a friend with a woodmizer portable mill.

On Saturday before I showed up, he sold 2" thick by 8-10" by 8-10' for $50 each. The 1" thick boards went for $25 each. He is charged $75/ hr for the guy to saw them. So he makes money by selling the boards, but it's not $1000 a 15" tree worth.

That's precisely what my buddy had found out.

He cut a half dozen walnut logs and had a bear of a time trying to sell them in log form. In turn, he found the guy with the portable mill, and now he can sell the boards. I think it's the "Etsy effect"

Once the esty crowd sees the wood in this form, it sells.

Don't rush it too much! My baby girl was born 2 weeks before the c-section date, so 3 weeks early. Surprise surprise! I had two weeks left to finish getting things ready....wrong! Was a bit of a scare at the time, but ended up healthy other than some short term hip dysplasia. I'm a bit of a procrastinator....so little bit of advice would be to get everything as ready as you can as soon as you can, just in case!
