Around here they tend to be dirty, under staffed, hit or miss inventory and cheap products.

I just don't frequent it. I did not infer that there was something wrong or it was sub-standard, I just don't go there.

In the last ten years, they have been having a growth spurt by building new stores around the U.P. So they must be OK and doing well.

Ah, I see...I thought since you said that you didn't go there by choice, there was something that made you prefer to not shop there.
I don't shop there often...when I do go in its often because I am trying to locally source (read: need ASAP) some queer item (like purple/racing stripe splittahs) and it has eluded me elsewhere.
Probably don't spend $100 per year there on average.
RKO (Rural King of Ohio) is the preffered "farm store" around this house.

We go there primarily for dog food and sunflower seeds. I get my leather work gloves there. I like to try them on as my hands are small.

Calling Midwinter Time to go shopping at TSC for a splitter.

Went into work for 4 hrs today and called home as per normal.

Chazsbetterhalf tells me about the sale at TSC, in case we need anything.

Nope have 3.5 gallons of bar oil, plenty of bird seed and dog food.

I don't mind TSC at all, ours is staffed with some pretty helpful staff. They do have things that no other stores in the area carry.

TSC sells a lot of junk. We recently got a Runnings nearby and there is a lot more variety of inventory as well as better quality items.

There's a few TSC's around here. Decent store. Went to one yesterday with a gift card. I always like walking around an looking at their varied inventory. Almost picked up a snatch block, but opted for leather work gloves. Figuring, I'd use them more than a snatch block. I'll have to hit some yard sales and flea markets in a couple months. Might just find one.

I had to stop by TSC to see what was on sale. I already have a splitter. The local one had a clearance on several types of oil. Mostly conventional oil in yellow or white quart jugs at $3 and 5 quarts of Mobile one. Got one 5 qt of Mobil for $9.99 another for $14. Several viscosity that happen to work with 30 hp Kohler and Kawasaki engines. All clearance oil was 50% off or more. I even price compared to Walmart before buying. Everything was cheaper at TSC today.

8$48 later and I have oil for the truck once, and the mower, tiller, log splitter...several times over, maybe for years. Now to find filters on sale.

No, I went to another location and they had them; including the Crescent tools; I didn't buy a set of the Crescent tools though but clearance items such as the tools were additional 25% off. I have a Craftsman socket set but would love to have a set of the ratchet spanners. I would have liked to pick up the DeWalt oscillating flush cut saw that was on clearance but even with the additional discount it was not in my budget. I did go ahead and pick up a set of the Vice Grips; stated they had a lifetime warranty but they were made in China. Got two log holders to go at the stove; they only had the 15% discount but were already 40% off. One thing I was going to do but forgot was to pick up some bar oil, it would have been $4.25 with the discount. However, I have three gallons on hand that I got during the last offer. They also had some of their battery chargers 6/12 volt; the Old Girl is a six volt system, marked down to $25.00 but they only applied the 15% discount.

One location had it for 7 and another though had it for 5. I was going to pick up some and forgot it. It would have been $4.25 with the discount. I have some on hand but was going to take advantage of the deal and then when I got there, it went out of my head; I didn't see it on a shelf or it would have reminded me. Guess I should make notes.

It would be nice to have one local. When I was building my SS chimney, Menards was the only place I could get the roof guy; I had it shipped. However, sometimes you can get free shipping; I got a section of chimney at Menards cheaper than Lowe's and got free shipping on it.

Ya gots to be careful. Its easy to cross that borderline and become a hoarder when you see clearance or low prices.

I have a Rural King here now; think they have been here for a couple of years. Great prices on auto/farm batteries. I got a new six volt battery for the Old Girl during their black friday discount; although the place was packed.

Yes, they had a log lift at 40% off plus the 15%. I thought about getting it but then read the reviews online that said it was junk. Reviews can be one's best friend at times; I left it since everyone said the handle was so flimsy it folded up on the first lift of a log.

The tale of two wood splitters. The splitter on the left is a 25 ton and the splitter on the right is a 30 ton. I just guessed that the 30 ton came in black while the 25 ton came in yellow but it could be that the 25 ton splitter in the photo is old stock and if you were to order one and have it sent to store it would be black. Or, it could be a crap shoot and you might get a yellow one or a black one. I don't know, I didn't find it that important to talk to a manager about it.
