ive made them out of pallets. The one pictured was made from pallet boards and pallets. 42" cube inside dimensions.
I stack 10-14" shorties in the front and back fill with the nuglies. Mostly nuggets in this case. Its now full to overflowing. Pic from early October. Sugar maple is the wood.
I have maybe two+ cord of them in my main PA (mostly oak and hickory) that need bins. IMG_1025.JPG

Have you ever tried selling nuggets/shorties jrider ? or is it just not worth your time?

A number of years ago they banned burn barrels cause many were using them to burn their trash. I don't know if using a burn barrel to burn wood scraps would be OK around here.

While unloading & stacking tonight I got to thinking about Lennyzx11 posting about ICBS totes he just got. That post got me thinking about the ones I can get for free, but what would I do with them.
    Make bins for uglies......of course.
But what do I do when I got a bunch of totes full of uglies.
Then while throwing some scraps into the burn barrel it occurred to me.
My town has been having an”old fashioned Christmas” walk about in early December. There are several burn barrels scattered around down town for ambiance and to warm up by.
I’m gonna volunteer to provide the wood for them next year. Should use up at least one tote full maybe two.

Most of my uglies go in the fire pit stack, or used for keeping stack covers down. Very short pieces get tossed aside by the splitter, and I will occasionally burn them all along with the splitter trash in the fire pit while working outside.

Nuggets in a pallet bin. The brown tarp on the left is an even bigger mound. IMG_1741.JPG IMG_1742.JPG

No sir, keep that for us to burn, along with round limb wood or culls. 0130200809.jpg The uglies and shorts go in the left side box, long wood in the right box, kindling and splitter trash in the small box. Mr Bear supervises. 0130200812.jpg

Straight up nuggets or shorts as I call them are all sold for a premium to people with small stoves.

 I guess they’re like bigger pellets, they burn just as well. Stove Nuggets. There. You could sell them by the 5 gallon bucket. Even bbq’ers might grab that if you let them know they are grill friendly.

My shorties and uglies get stacked in between two normal stacks out in the yard. When I fill my garage rack I stack the uglies/shorties on the floor next to the rack. I use the S&U’s for the morning load and when I am around the house. I save the perty splits for the overnight burn when I’m trying to fill every square inch of the stove with fuel.
