I’m really happy with my 572 . It wears a 28” bar pretty much exclusively . It definitely has more torque than a 372 .
I’d recommend a 20” for most of your firewood duties and having a spare 24”or 28” for the real big wood. Any 70cc saw will work well. I currently run a stable of a ms440, 044 10mm, 372xp, ms500i and a 572xp while doing tree work. I found myself not using the 372 much because it seemed sluggish, so I had it ported. Now it’s one of my go to saws. The MS500i is my other go to saw. It is light, handles great and runs flawlessly. The 572xp is a stout saw, but I don’t find it that impressive and kinda heavy. Overall, I’d save some money and buy a used saw; the new saws are just getting outrageous. No way I’d be buying a new one if I wasn’t making money with it.
I could probably take a stab at it but hell, I have only held a 572 in a saw shop. The other 2 only pictures. Plenty of saw savants at this site to give you the full run down.
Well I'm no savant, but the 575 came along first and the 576 replaced it. The 576 had some upgrades and changes that made it superior to the 575, the 576 was available with standard carb or as an autotune. The 576 is the smoothest running, best anti vibe saw that I have ever had in my hands. I have zero experience with the 572, I only know its the newest model in this size.
The 575 is rumored to have crankshaft issues, but I know a guy who has one and it's never had problems. I want to run a 572, I'm willing to bet they are a little stronger saw than the 372xt
Oh Heck, quit foolin around, and just Do it, Over on the AS forum, "The Chainsaw Guy" has the 3120XP, PHO, NIB for $1399 SHIPPED If you're going to get into Milling, you can't beat the 3120XP, or Dave's Price Besides, with this you can Limb and prune from the ground The 395XP is also a great saw for milling, but Dave's price on the 3120XP is only a couple hundred more than the 395, but then CAD struck and I ended up with a 395XP as well I haven't used the 390XP for milling, but it is a great large firewood saw IMO, I have been Very Happy with mine. FWIW, Skeans on AS, is a Faller, and he has a very high opinion of the 562XP, with either a 28" or 32" B&C, but he is mainly Falling Douglas Fir, and I believe some Cedar and Alder, we don't get much Oak or Hickory around here, so we get away with longer bars than guys back East can. You REALLY Think that you are going to be Happy with a 2 saw plan??, better delete your FHC membership Doug
Those are some beautiful slabs. Have an white oak trunk I ought to have Woodsman mill up for me. I know, I know, 1 saw turns into 2, 2 turns into 3....
Thank You, those were from some Cedars we had taken out of the yard, they were great to practice on, they were coming out any way, and any "Learning Moments" just ended up in the stove Yep, 2 became 3, dayum where did 9 saws come from??? Doug
I’m always thinking about my next saw..... on a 3 saw plan now that really has me covered, but you guys have infected me with CAD. Always on the hunt/watch for the next one. No clue what it will be but most likely be a husqvarna unless a “you suck” deal comes along on a different brand. Something bigger than a 372 would be fun and handy once in awhile.
Anybody seen this guys YouTube channel? Only way he’s this one video but he puts the whole 3 saw plan to shame. Just watch the first minute or so
I spotted one I’ve been thinking about /looking for today on Craig’s list but it is in Oregon & I’m in Nebraska. Looked good and price was right (to me). probably sold already. But if any members from Oregon see this and are willing to grab it for me that’d be awesome. Was a 346. Just tried to copy and paste the ad but apparently it sold. Ad deleted by poster. Oh well the search continues
What part of Oregon was it in? I Live on Mt Hood, east of Portland, work out of Portland as a truck Driver, mostly Portland area, North to Kent, WA, but about every other week, I take a Kennewick, WA-Medford, OR shuttle, sometimes down US97, sometimes the I-5, just depends on the weather Doug
Actually I think it was in Medford. But apparently gone now. I didn’t figure it would last long. Seemed like to good of deal. I thought about calling the number but didn’t figure he would be interested in shipping it and probably would want pay pal payment. I’ve never done p-p and would just as soon not start
