Firewood ID please...

    Any idea what this firewood is? My guy brought 2 loads of it and I haven’t seen him to ask him what it is.

    Sounds like it was “Free firewood”. In my book that is the best kind. Ok - sorry I don’t know the species.

    I don't knoe the species either but free is good. Split up,dry it out and burn it!!

    Hackberry. Good shoulder season wood, dries fast, splits decent. Lots of fluffy ash.

    without scrolling though i would say some type of birch??? More pics would help Joe Seaton including a split log.

    It is white like holly but it’s missing the bumpy nodules on the trunk where the branches come out

    Might be tree of heaven. The bark looks similar. I got some awhile back.

    The red maple here gets loaded with lichen just like that.

    It don’t look like the hackberry I just got last week. Bark is a lot smoother and no dark center

    They had a discussion on Gray/Silver birch. Apparently it smells like spearmint when split. I’m more familiar with White/ Paper.
