I checked about an 3 hours ago and the temps was at -11f. It is a good night for the little drolet to overheat the basement once again!

2f this morning. I think it got to 16f today. Around 2f again tomorrow morning with snow starting. Schools all closed already and they are talking 2-4" total with a little ice in the afternoon as it should get up to 33f for awhile. Mid twenties Saturday and maybe 12f Sunday. I guess winter has arrived.

Who knows maybe itle snow more than an inch this year.. predicted blizzards. Sure.
Actually it's been nice.. saving firewood since I'm heating the house and the garage to keep the lady's plants thriving.

19 here, 72 inside, burning down some red oak coals. Single digits coming for a couple days then back to mid 40s by the end of next week. I was hoping the cold was going to set in for awhile.

17* out 67* in this morning. Got a light dusting of snow last night. Supposed to stay below freezing today but with sunshine. I'm just glad the wind from yesterday has moved on...

19f and windy with snow squalls...loaded the 3400 with black locust and red oak. Should be a nice bed of coals with whispering blue flames by the time I get home from work. Probably will reload with the same since the princess of the castle is off work today and will complain if the house isn't warm enough.

It's been so warm here recently (50-65* highs) that I just lit the first fire in a week. Currently 29* and really windy. Not getting much warmer outside today.

7 feels like -12 at the moment, headed for a balmy 10 but feeling like below zero all day with the wind. Still 76 inside, burning down some oak coals. We ended up with at least 10” yesterday, maybe 12” but it was blowing around at the end so hard to tell. I went out at 3 and didn’t get back in until 5:30 because I had to clean twice in that time plus rake the roof. It was wet and heavy too so it’s cement this morning. Next one moving in about 5 pm tomorrow is supposed to be the same so we’re making up for lost time fast. Like Canadian border VT said “Wintah is he-ah. Below zero again early next week.
I’m feeling really good about the six new windows I installed in the front/north side of the house this past summer. Last year we would have to turn on the heat pump on mornings like this, but it’s still 69 upstairs right now.:dex: We went from single pane Anderson casement to Pella low E fiberglass from Lowe’s. I found a few insulation gaps around the frames that I filled and I’m sure that’s helping. The old windows would be caked with ice on these mornings but no more.
This little Fireview is doing just awesome in our 2100 sq ft raised ranch in southern Maine. Quite a bit more than it’s rated for, and I find that pretty impressive. I’m a happy camper! Woodstock Soapstone Company rocks!

20 outside. 82 inside. Predicting snow but it is amazing all the different snow amounts I'm hearing and reading. Anywhere from 3-5" up to 8-12"

It does sort of sound that way. Will be the first time this year and it is ready to go.
