Just plugging away with oak and a mix of ash/poplar. Hasn,t been real cold cold yet only a few low temps around zero mainly 30s. Predicted low tonight 11, high sat 54 go figure.
30* here now, burning Red Maple. The stacks we're getting into now is like Halloween goodie bag, pretty much a bunch of all kinds of wood. We had several hours of heavy snow squalls today.
21 out here to, probably will get a few degrees colder. Also windier than $&@!!?$. Stove chewing on a mix of hickory, ash, and locust. Stove keeps up but at this temp + high winds I do end up battling with lots of coals. stay warm
18 degrees outside and WINDY!! 76 in the house. I’ve been burning tree of heaven all night. It burns hot and makes great coals.
18° here, with the full moon setting in the west. It was windy overnight, but has calmed down. I've switched from maple to elm in the stove for today, it will be a chilly one. I brought in some poplar for the weekend.
16 feels like 5, still pretty windy but improving. Expecting a high around 20 then warming up overnight to 40 tomorrow and in the 50’s Saturday. Weird for January but we’ll take it. Still crossing my fingers about Sunday though. NO MORE ICE!!! Suppose that’ll help? Oh yeah, 76 inside on coals still. Stay warm out there!
Red maple just loaded in on top of what was left of the first fire of pine. Wind has calmed down a bit this morning.
A bit cold-ish this morning at about 16 when I awoke. We're due for a couple warmer days, then we get a snow dump starting Saturday sometime. So, there's that. Debating a fire at the moment. OK, debate's over. There WILL be fiyah!
I lit off the kicker stove in the basement yesterday morning. Nice. Enjoyed Netflix WWII in color series and started watching the Irishman once again! That radiant heat can't be beat. It never got above 10f yesterday here. The wind was no where near as bad as they had predicted.
Down around 10 overnight. Supposed to get up to 42, then rain, then ice, then snow. All in all a few nasty days coming at us.
