Reminds me of a thread on another site. If the guy knows his market and can actually get it, more power to him. It's probably a niche market full of yuppies who feel they are getting a superior product. If I felt I could get it, I would. Capitalism baby!
Are there people who pay these prices? If I were still burning full time, it would cost me 10,425/yr to get firewood from him.
These people aren't buying for heat. They are buying for pretty flames and the convenience of not having to touch the wood unit they are ready to burn it.
According to his website, he has been in business since 1988. So over thirty years. Here is a thread on the company from 2009. He must sell some of the wood. Alot of people with zero common sense and/or work ethic, but plenty of money. Astounded at the price this guy is charging for wood!!
I also read that he "specializes" in selling to condo owners. Most Condo's around here have either a gas or electric fireplace. Seems having a bunch of wood burning fireplaces would be a huge safety hazard.
What’s crazy is, he likely sells some. I sold 1/3 cord to a guy and helped stack for $120 and I thought I was kicking some azz. Expensive wood for the sophisticated client
It's the fear of bugs that ropes them in.... Buyer Beware! "....not all firewood is created equal". Visit www.NHBUGS.org to learn more about consumer protection when purchasing "wood-pest infested" firewood ending up at your homestead. * Our "sterilized" firewood has been kiln dried to USDA T314-c Heat-treatment standards as outlined in our USDA / tri-state compliance agreement # NH-EPP-EAB-0014.
Good Lord! You mean there might be bugs in wood? Flying insects? Dirt? OMG! How can people stand to burn wood with all these problems? Just spend more dollars and your problems are solved. If you don't believe me, just look at the government and how they think.
Guys yes this is big $$, most people in 603 are too thrifty for this!! So what’s his market? 1 week condo rentals is my bet..
Maybe... We rented a single family house on a lake in Vermont in 2009, and the owner left us plenty of dry firewood for the week. We burned at least 1/3rd of a cord as we had a fire every night.
an old friend of mines brother used to have a firewood business in downtown Boston about 20 years ago. They would deliver small amounts of firewood to customers in buildings for their fireplaces. I cant imagine how much the premium was.
All I can picture is this guy driving around a condo complex with an ice cream type truck playing music and a revolving piece of cord wood on the top. Everybody tripping over themselves, with cash in hand running towards him.
$746 for a third of a cord?!? Do people up there, or anywhere for that matter, really have that kind of money to spend on firewood? At those prices, and with a properly insulated house, you could burn oil or natural gas.
I don't really what to say here. did someone just make this up? Oh wait, their next post might want to sell you some atomic energy!
