Hello My contractor remodeled our bath and left all the construction debris under our deck outside! He had no way to dispose of it! Burning all the wood is one option. Lots of old moldings and casings and some hollow wooden doors. Our town's 20 year contract to take residential construction debris ran out so they will not take anything! There is a private commercial dump in town where there is a stream of huge trucks going in and out all day. They do $75 per car load but the town made a deal. So if you go to the town hall and wait in line, you can get a pass for $25 per car load! However time is money too! The other day I went to a city dump, no residential dump sticker needed. They just charge 10 Cents per lb. That seems much more reasonable. Wish we could get that! How much does it cost to get a dumpster delivered? $150 - 350 depending upon size? That seems like a good price Don. Getting rid of construction debris can be a pain in the neck and wallet. Residential waste haulers check bags around here for demo debris. I don't mind paying to get rid of it as it beats sitting in a pile in the yard.
I had a standard sized dumpster once for a cleanup project and it was $50 a day. Had it for three days, but was able to get them to empty it a dozen times.
Thanks for the info. I did these projects at low cost and years ago we could take it to the dump. Luckily the dump will still take bags of tile and wallboard as trash. So I burned up the wood and took the old toilet to the Keene NH dump wit 14 old single pane wood windows. It was $100 per ton so that was 0.05 cents a lb for 200lbs = $10 dollars.
I wish we had a recycling center around here for stuff like that. Most people just burn anything that has even a small amount of wood in it, then take the rest to the county dump or leave it somewhere on their property. I won't do that. Used to be $20 for my full 5x10' trailer. They now charge $25/cu.yd........I think. They tell you where to take it and you could drive back in there 1/2 mile before getting to the spot. They're trying to get a gasification plant going out there soon.
Nice idea but no one around here wants them. Heck I have a 30" x 60" kholer cast iron French vanilla whirlpool tub with brass trim and built in grab bars that works fine that no one wants either! I cannot give it away!
4x4x8 ft pile on street, free twice per year, $25 each thereafter in my county. it is a long wait though. it's a pain but I cut the debris into little pieces, the wood went in the green waste can, the rest in the trash can. No trash pick up? I could deal with that! Here it is mandatory service, I don't pay $38 bucks a month , they put a lien on my property, !
$395.00 for a 20 cu yd dump last Summer when I tore off the roof and reshingled. 3 ton limit, $86.00 a ton over limit private contractor It would have fit in a 10 yard dump, but I cleaned out a garage to fill it. Drop off at the transfer station they charge to dump some things and not others. Homeowners only. twice a year hazardous drop-off on a Saturday morning, some free, some not there was supposed to be a separate gypsum system weekly trash is dual stream recycle and pay-to-throw trash ($80 year, $1 and $2 per bag-small/large )
The price last I looked was $25 for whatever you can haul to the transfer station in a pickup truck or a trailer. Doesn't matter if it's 20 pounds or 2000 pounds. Once a year the township I live in has a spring cleanup where you can dump nearly anything for free if you want to hold on to it that long. When I did my big remodel project in 2001 I paid $400 for a 40 yard dumpster. Just under 8 tons total of roofing, plaster, you name it got hauled away in that load.
Just paid just over $400 for a 30 yard hopper. Up to 5 ton of material and I have it for 3 weeks. I never priced what a load would be at the dump. But I would need to make well over a dozen loads, so this is probably much cheaper. (Had a garage sale this weekend. What we didn't sell, is also going in the hopper).
Its free in my county and the neighboring counties as is all SC counties that are rural. Your limited to one truck and trailer and you can't throw stuff in there if your a contractor. Bit if your doing it you can throw it or if your contractor leaves it you can throw it away. I hailed many truck loads when I was remodeling. Its a construction dumpster at the recycle centers located around the counties
That's the way to do it when "stuff" has gotta go. Sell, give away or toss... in the end... it's gone. I oughta do something here too... my garage is so bad with "stuff" I need snowshoes to keep from sinking into the bog...
We can take a truck load to granger but it's totally random although the charge is around $25 a truck bed that is stuffed completely. The cheapest route is to call the container company and ask to do a top off. I can take a truck load there and top off partial containers for $10.
I'm glad I can throw away personal stuff free...no idea though what it would cost if I owned a biz and had to dispose of debris.
