I found a website that has original colors for emblem paint. But it was $14 plus shipping. I am cheap so I didn't want to pay that. I asked around on Square body forums. People said what color they used a, some guys used model paint, but that's not an exterior paint so I was worried about durability of that. Some used equipment yellow.
I went to Lowe's and bought three yellow spray paints. I thought the one I used was what I wanted in store but I bought them all to see ( returned the others). It was a retro yellow so it seemed it would be perfect for a truck from the 70s and 80s. It was Rust-Oleum spray paint. And the color was Tuscan yellow. I sprayed a little into a Dixie cup and used a small artist brush . It took two coats to cover it. I'm debating to do the same with a clear. I have some automotive quality clear and also Rust-Oleum clear I could do the same thing. May just leave it as it is.

It just pops against that Green. I figured it would, but I am so pleased with it. Glad I didn't just throw the faded ones up there. It's just set in for the pic here.

Some people hate green, I love it on a truck. This is the period correct Chevy dark green.

I forgot to mention the original yellow was slightly more gold than this color. But only me and other square body nuts will know the difference. And this is a driver truck not a show quality restoration.

ole All of the years I was working, I had federal income taxes deducted from my paycheck. When I retired and applied for Social Security I found out I could have them withhold federal income taxes as well. You can choose the amount. This makes it possible to not pay estimated taxes. So far it has been working good. When you get your first SS check/direct deposit, you will see a deduct for Medicare insurance. Wishing you a happy retirement in a couple of months. :handshake:

When I retired, I found out that one year, I had no deductions paid in for social security. turns out, everyone that worked for that manufacturing plant had the same thing. I called the owners of the business (switched hands a few times) and they said those records were no longer a requirement to keep, (since it was previous owners)

Social security just averaged the earnings from the year before and the year after to allow for income for the "missing year". I tried telling social security that was the very same year that I was awarded bonuses in the amount of 6 figures for innovations to the company!

    Nope, nice try.

Long story short, my income ended up being reported under my husbands for 4 years (working 2 jobs at a time and contracts/health insurance etc. so I kept working our partnership but "employed" by the second place.......) I did not think twice about it til 10 years later and realized it affected my SS. Oh well, atleast he got credit for my hard work those years, and honestly could not say how much of a $$ difference on my SS.

Got 2 garage windows installed. The first one sucked...then I figured out what I was doing and the second took no time at all. The other 2 should be easy. Hopefully get it done tomorrow.

Just made it home from our two day trip. Yesterday the weather was pretty nice with lots of sunshine. Halfway home we hit snow for the next two hours. We could get snow at the house tonight if the temps drop a degree or two.

Woke up to heavy warm rain and no power. Went back to bed. Power was off for two hours. After all the snow we saw yesterday, it is a surprise to see how warm it is today and know that most of that snow is gone on the highway. Rain is here now for at least another week and then we may see snow again.
