Good morning and Happy New year to all! I 'm nearly done with the three fallen red oaks I found here. Looks like I'll get about 2 cords from the three trees. I decided to split into smaller pieces in hopes that it will be ready for next year. Moisture was averaging about 25%. Also tried out the furnace. Outside temp was high 30's. Inside thermostat was set at 70. Furnace raised temp to 74 after 1-1/2 hours so it works but I'm losing a lot of heat as the warm air circulates back through basement heat pump unit and through the ductwork. Temp at outside of duct near the furnace was 110 and at the upstairs registers was in the mid 80's. I might reroute the two wood furnace ducts to blow directly into the registers upstairs to reduce warm air travel path. I also found out that the factory damper on the furnace door is about useless. It's either wide open or closed. I have an idea for a simple adjustable intake damper with a cold air intake from outside. Sorry for all my numbers. I'm an engineer and like to quantify things when possible. All comments appreciated as always.
