Hey guys, sorry for being absent. My mother passed away and lucky me, I'm the Trustee. Anyways, we'll be putting a flue in but I think much of my problem was user error/being a nOOb :) I'd like to thank everybody for their input. I'm a nugget thinker, and like to take nuggets of information and mix/match to help find solutions to my problems and pretty much every post had very useful information, so thank you! We're really enjoying the stove and even though we're of course still running our heat pump, our last power bill was $100 less than last year at this time and now that it's colder, I can definitely tell that the heat pump is working nowhere near as hard so I'm actually looking forward to my next power bill lol. Out of curiosity only, of course.

Having a blast and we're buying 3 more cords of wood in January and will keep adding as I can figure out where to put it etc. My endgame would be to have 3-4 years ahead but that will take time.

    Thanks all!

Great to hear things are coming together for you.

I miss the Yarmouth/Portland Ferry. Do any Ferries come into Yarmouth anymore?

That ferry moved to Bar Harbor due to port/dock construction in Portland didn't it ?

DaveGunter would know about the Bar Harbor one. My wife took that trip with her Dad when she was in college at Orono, and he had a load of Christmas trees to pick up. I think she was sick on both rides.

    BAR HARBOR 2019
    Update July 15, 2019

Due to continued construction and related approval processes at the Bar Harbor ferry terminal, it is anticipated that the earliest date on which any service could commence is in the late summer range. Efforts are being made to accelerate the start date; but, in the meantime, all customers holding bookings on the season will be offered full refunds on their reservations and no new reservations will be accepted until there is more definitive timing. Passengers will be offered alternate passage, where available, between Saint John and Digby on MV Fundy Rose. The company will communicate directly with its customers on these changes.

Bay Ferries Limited deeply regrets any inconvenience caused to our customers and impacts on our partners and the hospitality industry.

We will continue to make every effort to support the Southwest Nova tourism industry, and Nova Scotia tourism industry, in any way possible.

Yes, the ferry is supposed to come back, that company, Bay Ferries has been in and out of financial trouble, they are highly subsidized by the Canadian govt. They are redoing the terminal in Bar Harbor so it can accommodate cruise ships as well as the ferry. The cruise ships have to hire tenders to get their passengers ashore, cruise ships have become very popular to BH, there is at least one every day in the fall sometimes 3 or 4.

During my last visit to BH I stayed in the old mansion thats part of the hotel right next to the ferry terminal. Beautiful place, but I wouldn't want to deal with cruise ships.

They're (cruise ships) a blessing and a curse. BH is first a foremost a tourist town so complaining about tourism is kinda like complaining that water is wet.

Yeah, I hear that. The thing I liked most about that hotel was that it was away from the crowds.

I'm 100% not interested in downtown BH anymore with the added congestion of the ship traffic. I really didnt care for it much to begin with, but I cant imagine how it must be with that extra headcount dumped in on top of the people staying in the area.

Like the American STar which is so small it can tie up at the pier with its massive crowd of 100 passengers ?

No, like the multiple full size cruise ships that are ferrying people in daily now.
