Well, it's a little more involved than "yes" or "no" but here goes! ;)

    Here are the circumstances:

    Fully (and happily) retired.

Neither of us plan on going anywhere today as the work is done and the shopping is done.

Neither of us plan on staying up until midnight.

    Question is:

How long do I have to wait until I start "toasting" the New Year????

If you are a RESPONSIBLE adult there is no need to wait.

I may stay up, but I'll either be on here, or Youtube, instead of watching the ball drop.
I think we may have a few Angry Orchards in the fridge. Might have one....might not. Not something I can't do w/o.

I never stay up later than 9-9:30. Most nights I'm in bed at 8. Usually get up around 4:30. I could never relate to the people in Times Square packed shoulder to shoulder like sardines in the freezing cold, half drunk, waiting for a stupid ball to slide down a pole.

I think 30 minutes after waking this morning is reasonable.

I just uncorked a bottle of Cabernet, so 5:00 seemed to be the reasonable hour for me.

Going to dinner and drinks at 5:00, having friends over after for several drinks to bring in the new year. Will cease Fire around 12:30. Nothing like bringing in the new year with good friends, good food, and good drinks.

Have a happy new year FHC!!

A neighbor invited us, dinner at 7. Ummm, I'm already in jammies at 7 and cannot remember last time we made it to the ball drop unless we were watching the east coast (10 pm here). We packed up the food we bought, will pot luck with them (lasagne) and us (garlic bread, salad, king crab). Wish me luck, not sure I'll make it. All of you have fun!
