I’ve had some big pine pieces near my boiler that needed splitting and I’ve noticed two neighbors with piles of logs from when they each had some trees cut down. So I spoke to each about bringing my big splitter around and take care of all of it while I’m off over Christmas break. Monday I helped my neighbor Bob cut and split about 1-1.25 cords of oak some of which was 28” across so it was nice to have the log lift. Tuesday I knocked out the pine at my house. Today I cut and split this for the single mom next door neighbor. Glad I had two of my kids helping me. It ended up being about 2.25-2.5 cords and once again all oak. She’s on her own to stack it though. Haha! Now it’s time to take my splitter back to my moms and get working on next years wood.
You're a good man. First your sons firewood stand, now this. Your kids will remember these life lessons forever.
Great job, brother. Especially at Christmas time. Glad your kids could help, and share the experience of helping others
Good job at spreading the joy jrider ! Nice to include the kids. A number of good Life Lessons to be learned here as well as some "Dad" time. I used to avoid short rounds when loading my trailer at scrounges. Now I go ahead and include them and split them up for our neighbor who is older and a widow. She has a smaller insert and I process the shorts into smaller splits so she can handle them better. The Wif helps her load the splits into her wood bins. If our wood hoarding behavior can help others also, so much the better! Very nice splitter you have there.
