Somebody started that thread about Little Johnny's first fire toy kit. Hilarious. I was editing my comment to include this below but then I figured the-firebug-in-me might deserve its own thread... so, here ya go, your chance to fess up.

Yep, firebug here, too. I ended up burning down a shed back of the house when I was a kid and had just learned about spontaneous combustion in, like, 5th grade science, and that was my story... an old mattress just heated up and ignited itself. My mom had a cow that she figured I was lying... like my first serious lie... Dad had to give me a big lecture, it was a big deal. We (brothers and me) were always popping firecrackers and burning and blowing crap up.

Later, as a teenager, me and neighbor boy were freezing feeding the cows, real cold and windy and we started a fire waiting on someone to come back and pick us up as we had no truck. We started the fire in the barn. Somebody called fire department, thought the barn was on fire. This was a big deal because the barn is, like, 15 miles from the fire department and it was volunteer, and all those men had to mobilize and were pizzed at us. Dad wasn't happy. But, was elated his barn didn't burn down.

My dad had some old straw piled up behind our garage. I lit it on fire with some matches. After saving the garage from burning my dad asked me how I started the fire. I told him I hit two rocks together! Lol. He busted out in laughter, when he stopped laughing he said “show me”. I was 8-9 years old. I told him the rocks got hot so I threw them. He stayed on me till I admitted to lying and gave up the matches. What a lesson.

About 12 years old, me and the old neighborhood gang started a bonfire in the freezing cold of Christmas Break. about 20 minutes into it, and a FREAKING SHOCK ABSORBER BLEW UP !! The 4 ft wide fire pile blew open and we got tipped back out of our chairs. Some stupid a-hole threw a shock in the fire ring before it got snowed on. We still cant believe nobody got killed that day !
