I won't have to plant too much grass seed. I'll put some down but the wild stuff will come in strong. Between weeds and grass it looks nice when it is kept cut. Wow, seriously hot. Another 10 minute break is at hand.
Got started on the larger section, making some progress........ Oh, hello. Who might you be? I'm Mr. Rock. How are you Mr. Stihl? Well, I was doing well. Nice to meet you. I guess.? Hey now, I've been here a lot longer than you, don't be gettin snotty. Ya well the owner says your movin. So there! Hey, knock it off you two, someone's going to think we're all a little strange.
Little further back now. One more 10-15 minute push then I have to call it quits. Gotta get cleaned up and take care of some business for a few hours.
Thanks. Oh, I will. I just want my view of the pond to be even nicer. I can't wait till this hard part is done. Shouldn't be too much longer. The big problem is getting those piles of topsoil moved into the low spots. I don't know if I am going to be able to do it with the Bobcat. The ground is so soft down there. Might have to work around the entire area and finish off what I can, then wait till things are drier. Oh well. We will see. If I can figure out a way to get it done now though, it's getting done in the next few weeks!
I was able to get the tractor around and through some of it. But the big mound of dirt that I need to spread all though the area is surrounded on three sides by stuff that is to soft. Time to go in from the drier side by the pond. Now it's time to get dirty.
Nice work Gas. It's going to be quite a spot out there and you're making it all happen. You've got me re-thinking all of the clearing I need to get done below our cabin. If we do it by hand, I'll never see it done in my lifetime. Have a cousin who has an excavator. Might have to go for it and get him up there this year.
I wish I was closer to you Stinny. And had a heavy duty trailer. And a heavier truck that could pull it. LOFL. I would come over and do it for you with the Bobcat and Ford. Of course I would have to charge you a case of good, cold beer, for a "fee". We would have good times.
I got started on the back side of the mound of dirt. When moving some of the dirt to a low point I ran into Larry, Moe, and Curly.
Some of what takes so much time in a project like this is there is always something changing your game plan. I was moving dirt a pretty good pace. Then came to this place with these three large rocks. Larry, Moe, and Curly. Not in a deep enough hole to bury them there. So I have to back in with the machine. Plant the bucket and feet, and dig them out. Then turn around and try to scoop them with the bucket. But sometimes you can't get them with the bucket, so you have to plant the bucket just under them and then get out of the machine and roll them into the bucket. There are also several large stumps from my past cuttings of Ash. My brothers and I often have this conversation about business and jobs. I have three brothers who are in business for themselves. Some people just don't understand the time and money involved in jobs. They think you, or someone else, or they, can just get this job done in no time and there is hardly any cost to it. They don't have a clue the time it takes to set up, get things done, break things down, etc. etc. etc. The cost of tools and equipment. And when you run into things you were not expecting, which WILL happen..................... LOFL Good times!
I wish I owned an excavator with a claw and a blade... then again, I'd still have to hire someone to come in and fix the mess I'd make... Thanks for the thought Gas.
Yup... and my personal favorite myth... a company must be evil if they want to make a profit. And, if you own a company, you must be rich. You put it perfectly, most don't have a clue what it takes to start, operate, maintain and grow a business.
Won't be long now. The top soil pile is spread out. I couldn't get much of it up to the top of the hill and around the camp because of so many wet spots around and getting stuck. So I spread it all around in the low spots and now it's time to york rake it. But I think I'll cut the grass first give it some time to dry
