Well, the cottage roof is done as well as the deck and the driveway is opened up! But, for the first time in all my years of using them, I snapped a shear pin on the snowblower. A quick drive to the chainsaw/snowblower/lawnmower shop and $6 later, was back in business!
This should be nice...... Apparently, a fox has taken up temporary residence under the deck here! Healthy looking bugger and hope to be seeing it again. Pics as they become available but I have a feeling there won't be any posing going on.....
I know Hankook is a Korean company. I see that a couple of their tires are actually made in the USA. I'd still rather give money to an American company, with made in America tires, but I'll go with what makes sense, dollars wise. Yes, Cooper seems to always have a great rebate, if you buy at the right time.
Was that on the ariens? I know ariens likes to put a little plastic holder/shield that holds a set of replacement shear pins in them.
I've seen those. I've got a couple extra now at any rate. This one is a john deere 828d but is manu-ed by ariens. I'm not sure how old it is; I bought it (used) back in15 or 16 and it has worked well. That "new" ariens is great and impressive.
I put between 75-80K on the OEM tires on my wifes Sorento. I dont believe they were ever once rotated either.
Mickey Thompson tires are all made in the USA as well. Additionally, I've met some of the higher ups through my friends, and they are great guys.
I worked as a Rn manager for the VA for many years. I retired in 2000. I could tell you both good and bad stories. But one thing to keep in mind. The VA is JACO inspected (Leading the Way to Zero | The Joint Commission) My last assignment was running a 50 bed long term care dementia unit. In our first JACO inspection to this new unit, we scored 95% which is really good. Lots of non goverment hospitals don't employ Jaco to do their evaluations. Cost is a factor as is compliance. But to get a good score from Jaco means a lot of hard work to meet their standards. I have been getting care at my VA and can't say enough good about it. They are doing a fantastic job here in Maine.
Glad to hear it! My dad was taken care of in Boston, and now in FL where he lives. He had a neck fusion surgery in the Boston VA. His surgeon was one of the top Dr's from one of the Boston hospitals that they bring in for these things. NE Baptist I think? I didnt realize the VA had dementia units. My grandfather spent his last few years in a memory ward while my aunt wrote checks equaling probably 2/3 of his estates worth for it. He was WWII Navy Underwater Demolition. Forged his birth cert to enlist at 15.
It's way easier to believe it on a new vehicle where all the parts have tight tolerances and all the geometry is right. On a truck that is 15 years old with 200,000 miles on it, it's a bit more impressive. Sent from my moto g(7) using Tapatalk
Picked up and dropped off my buddy's GF's simplicity Coronet lawn mower back at her house, after he took it to his dad's place after his GF upgraded to that John Deere zero turn that I let him buy from a different friend of ours. His Dad didn't like how this one operates and would rather use his old POS gear drive. Yeah, that's confusing. Doing this saved my buddy a lot of time. He's been working 7 days a week. Anyway, it helped my buddy out and I also brought home about a face cord of box elder that I dropped and bucked last winter. I split it a few days ago and it's solid. I had questions about how it would hold up as I didn't really keep it off of the ground. That's all I could put in the trailer with the mower in there. Over Christmas break I'll get more of the box elder. There's probably another 2/3 of a cord left that's already cut to size, but more I can drop and take.
The VA has a lot that many people including vets don't know about. One of the screwy things though is that they deney care to some, saying that they make too much money!! My uncle was denied care he told me because he was told he made too much money or had too much investments?? He was not a rich man, nor could he afford the type care your talking about. And why should his widow be left with literally nothing because the VA abandoned their responsibility to a veteran because he made too much money. My uncle died fairly quickly and abruptly following a stroke. But had he not succumbed to it or had a second one that took him while in the rehab place. His whole estate would of been used for his care. Which would have left my aunt with literally nothing..she was a home maker and raised their three kids and kept the home so the only money was their money which he made. And had she made money that would of been used as well since they were married. So that all said. I am not trying to turn this political. Nor do I believe is socialism but he did sign on that dotted line and gave several years of his life in dedicated service to his country in the Vietnam era. Part of that commitment I thought was that later in life they will assist in medical care, which was not done. Maybe he saw the "wrong person" at the VA?? I started vacation today. I was able to get some dirt work done today along with snow cleanup and a visit with my Mother. Then watched my daughter play in her basketball game. A good day. Tomorrow I hope to get some more dirt work done. But it will be very cold.( -5ishF?) So I will plug the John Deere 310J in earlier and let the heater warm it up longer. And let it warm up longer after I start it. Along with slowly cycling the hydraulics to get everything warmed up slow and steady. Hopefully things will go well. I wonder if anyone with heavy equipment on the forum has any other advice on cold weather heavy equipment operation? JustWood fuelrod Anyone else?
I have the new Fun Country's on my F-250, very happy with the tread design. My wife's CRV, BFGoodrich Advantage T/A. These are a very good tread design, they over-perform in most situations. You have to look at the actual tread pattern. - Center bar is siped down to the carcass. It is good for ice. - Double grooves aside the center rib, reduction in hydroplaning is very evident when you have to deal with that. -Non-directional side treads- Can't say enough about this tread pattern. It just works. This is a good tire pattern. We have about 28K on this set, should go to 48-50K before replacement. JB.
Last day of vacation for me. We're keeping the youngest out of school and taking her to the children's museum in Boston today. Depending on time, I might see if I can pick up the new car on our way home. Midwinter will be disappointed in its hoarding capabilities, though as Robert Deniro said:
