About 5-6 years ago I got some Locust from a tree service buddy of mine. I was told it was Red Locust but it looks like it might be Honey Locust? I'm not sure. But what I do know is this stuff cranks out some heat and is heavy as the day we cut and split it. We split up around 15 face cord. I sold about half of it and regret it. I still have a few FC left and pull it out like a fine wine on especially cold NY days. Here's a picture of my grandpa who was 80 at the time blocking it up. I was out of town for the weekend and showed up to my wood lot and he had it all cut up! He's going to be 86 next month and is still cutting and splitting with me.
That is a monster of a honey locust! I see why he cut short rounds off the trunk, they must have weighed a ton. Without seeing your grandads face, he could be a young man!
He’s 86 BECAUSE he’s out there working. Back in the day men were men. Today’s kids god help us. I miss my grandfathers. God bless you. Have a beer with him for me
I consider myself very lucky to have a grandfather like him! He's taught me a lot about everything in life. If I told him I was cutting wood or splitting today he would be over in a heart beat. Even in the 20 degree blowing snow. WE will never see another generation like that again. I'm very lucky for the upbringing I've had. I'm 31 and am disgusted by today's generation. No one knows how to work with their hands anymore or take pride in what they do.
couldnt agree more. God forbid they get they get their hands dirty, let alone "work". Dunno if i have but welcome to the FHC SpeedShop64
I never knew a grandfather either, only had a great uncle and he was like your grandpa to me. Awesome! Yep, America is in trouble.
