Definitely a good price. New ones are well over a grand, I believe around $1200 or so. Seems too good a of a deal, I’d be weary. May be a foreign knock off, or reconditioned. What are you cutting with it? My brother has a 660 and it’s a monster for big trees. Gets pretty heavy though if used all day.

Between my father, my brother, and myself we have a lot of saws. I have 4, my father has 3, and my brother has 5 or 6. Ranging from 45cc to 92cc. The 660 really shines when you get diameters 30” and up. A 70-80 cc saw seems just as fast in up to about 24”-30” rounds. If your planning on cutting under 30” diameters mainly, a good 75-80 cc saw may be a better option as the lighter weight is noticeable.

I'm with sirbuildalot on this one, but it could also be some rich cat who decided he didn't need such a big saw and could afford the loss. Counterfeits can look real right down to box and decals.

By the way, I have a 661 that I bought 5 years ago and it was in the $1200+ range. It's a beast to lug around the woods for a full day of cutting.

You can get a new Makita/ dolmar 79cc for less than that. Granted that's with a shorter bar than the 32", but you'd have to have a really big tree to need a 32" bar and a saw with more than 80cc's.

Looks the good to be true that me. If it checks out and you as a legit 661 with no problems I’d be all over it. Just make sure it’s the real deal!

For what it's worth, the guys who cut my timber use only MS461s.Most carry a 20" bar and their chains are always sharp. They've cut some pretty big trees for me.
I'd make real sure the saw is what you think it is.
Then again, like someone pointed out,it may be a saw someone thought they needed and now don't.Cousin bought a large Stihl from a neighbor for a cheap price after the guy had done a very little bit of milling and no longer needed it.

Saws have gone up quite a bit in the last 10-15 years. When I got my 7900 in 2009 from Brad Curtis he was the cheapest dealer in America I could find. I paid $650 with 20” b/c. My brothers 660 was less than a grand in 2005 area. Now I see the 661’s are around $1300. I guess nothing is safe from inflation, except paychecks.

Mine was a first year of production 661cm and I had a lot trouble with it. It started on the second pull from a cold start but after it ran for a while it would not start hot. The dealer from whom I purchased it couldn't seem to figure it out so I contacted Stihl directly and the regional manager picked it up. He replaced the electronics with an upgraded version ant the saw has run perfectly ever since. I won't ever purchase a first year of production anything after that.

Don't think they put any badges on the top covers anymore. My 261 and 462 don't have them. Does seem awfully cheap. I paid more than that for my 462 new.

I thought they came with ES bars. The ones I've looked at and the one I worked on for a buddy all had ES bars. ??? I don't know that much about it, but that is all I noticed.
