That's so cool, thanks for posting that. I had one of those when I was a kid. Bought it with my paper route money. Spent long hours at the window, listening to far off CB radio conversations. Attached the antennae to the metal window screen to up the pickup quite a bit.

I remember when the big stores suddenly began being open on Sundays. Many people hated even the thought of it. Blasphemy for sure. But, the dollar still reigns, I guess.

Cigarette advertisements.....before the government outlawed them on TV and some print format.

We've done that once or twice in 80's and 90's trucks at our previous home, our road was VERY steep. Also in my highschool car, bouncing on the back bumper when too low on gas or stuck in the snow

This is both hilarious in it's lunacy and disgusting in how effective this manipulation was. Years back I took an elective college course in advertising propaganda. You dissect one of those ads from that perspective, let me tell you, Hitler & Stalin woulda been proud. One of the main reasons I just can't watch television anymore.

What ever happened to the 3 lane roads? Well, thank God, they are gone except for those little areas in town. I remember when the main US highway going north/south in MI was 3 lane part way. Some terrible accidents happened on those roads.

As of the past 10 years (or longer) the trend in the smaller towns or the U.P. (which is just about everywhere!) is to switch from the four lane highway through town into a three lane highway! :picard:

Actually, they are switching to 2 lane roads with a center turn lane.... I don't know why, as it does not help with the traffic flow or any of the other reasons they hope we'll believe.

Yes, it seems to be a state rule now when a road is re-surfaced, it gets changed to a 2 lane with left turn lane. Really dumb in most cases. Some cities and towns are balking. In our town it got a bit ugly for a while. They cut out a lane and put in bike lanes that are extremely rarely used (people in town want to ride on sidewalks). I'm about the only one who rides on the roadway if I am in town on my bike. In addition, it really gets scary now because occasionally one of those stupid people who seem to want to ride their bikes on the wrong side of the road can cause some very bad accidents; especially to the bike rider. Case in point: it has happened twice not to my wife. Stopped on side street before entering main street. Watching traffic from left and when it was okay to pull out into the traffic, she suddenly was faced by a stupid jerk riding the wrong direction on his bike. Fortunately wife's reaction time was okay but think about what could happen!

Okay, rant over. But needless to say, it is time again for 3 lane roads to be discontinued.

We have the same nonsense here as well. Trouble is that a goodly number of the idiot driving public still do left turns from the right lane across the turning lane. As well, we have the Trans Canada Hwy. going thru our county..................you guessed it, 2 lane with traffic lights at just about every intersection. It is a truckers nightmare...............:headbang::headbang::headbang::headbang:

You haven't seen anything till you see the goof ball bicycle riders riding on the right edge of the two lane Trans Canada Hwy.. Every summer several of them end up lubricating the bottoms of transport trucks....................................... IF they make it across the country they should be awarded a "DARWIN MEDAL"..... :rofl:
