Grammy's having very bad 2nd round of sinusitis. Started antibiotics... again. She is beyond miserable. Spring pollen takes on a whole new meaning for her every year. No sleep, throat is really bad from constant coughing. And, of course, she is beside herself that she's not down taking care of our grandbaby. Only thing I hate worse than being sick... is when she is.
Got my "listen & get r done" hat on this morning. :)

Edit... she just got up, took meds, had coffee and a bagel... dragged herself back to bed. Ugh.

Giz an I will check on her every so often. Gonna split wood and put some in the shed. Room for quite a bit still.

You think she is miserable now. Wait till she reads what you just wrote about her. Someone, (no, not me lol) just sent her a text, PM, and called her to let her know.

Stinny, with the potential of some of the wind storms I would find a very solid way to fasten that camp down to every one of those concrete piers. Not that many years ago we had what they called a micro burst come through an area not far from where woodlands and I are. It flattened every tree where it went through. I could not believe how lucky most people were. I do not know of any homes that were hit. I may be wrong about that. But am I ever glad it did not hit the city where my almost entire family lives. Or my house and woods. Later that year or next, my friends and I sent hiking through an area up by Cranberry Lake, NY where we were usually going into once or twice a year. We walked right through a whole area where every tree was on the ground. Lots of them really good size, healthy trees. They had not had time to open the trail up with the saws yet. It was almost impossible to get throuh with our back packs. We crawled and climbed and shuffled. But we did it. We were carrying beer in with us. Don't cha know.

Well, I jumped on a plane yesterday to head up to Boston for a meeting today. When I landed in Baltimore I had a voice mail saying the meeting was cancelled. So I ended up in Boston...heading back home later this afternoon. I want my 48 hours back.

I don't have to pay for any travel. It was cancelled for good reason...I just have a lot of other things I could have done with the time.

Micro bursts can do a lot of damage for sure. If the trees surrounding the cabin were blown down, the cabin prolly would be too.

Those are 80 lb concrete pads, not piers. The front 4- 6"x6" posts under the porch are buried pretty deep however. Any screaming winds always come from that direction. The remaining 100' elevation of the hill is up and to our south, and does a good job of protecting the area from wind.

Got a DUI accident/arrest going on in next door. 6 police cars from 2 different towns. Driver crossed over and sideswiped a parked car and messed up his car pretty good. Air bags and all. I thought they ruptured their radiator because of the cloud but the neighbors said it was the air bags. And the driver and passenger got out of the car before the police arrived so they each got to take sobriety tests and look to have failed. I think they got a ride to the hospital too. The neighborhood kids said they recognized them from high school a few years ago so they probably are underaged too.

Good question gas, nope, they converted the building to apartments. Since it's a turn of the century home it was originally heated by coal using steam. There were no working fireplaces when the house was built.

Got fired up to split some more today. Weather said possible showers late today. It's 50-60 out. Great temps. Getting ready... I look out and it's pouring! :headbang:

Don't know about all of you guys, but I really don't like getting my stuff caught out in the rain now. I had to deal with that all the time working off our crane trucks working on signs. We used to joke about how you knew it was going to rain when every tool you owned was spread out across the yard and all over the truck... :hair:

I had a guy deliver stone yesterday. He wanted to know who I was selling all of that firewood to. I said no one, but he didn't believe me, after the third time he asked me I walked away.
