I have a small issue ever since I've bought the stove where I get a vibrating sound (annoying as hec) sporadically for about 10 - 20 minutes when the fan is on high. Think i've linked it to the heating up process and cooling down process of the stove. Once the stove is really hot and cranking you never really hear it. On its way to getting nice and hot is when I believe it occurs, also on the back end when the stove is cooling down. If I pop the lid off and apply a small amount of pressure to the top of the fan downward it stops. Not a big deal but sometimes erks the hec out of me, wondering if anyone else experiences this and just part of having a blower. It use to vibrate because of the lid not being secured on correctly but I've fixed that.

Does it have to be on high? In 8 years of use I haven't decided if my blower actually moves a significantly larger amount of air on high. So it's usually set at about 1/3 speed.

    Probably time for a cleaning.

I figured out that my blower draws 200 watts regardless of where the rheostat is set.. so we leave it on high all the time.. I’m convinced that it moves more air on high as the stove top temp ends up being lower.

Mine definitely moves more air at a higher speed. Usually set no higher than about 1/2, which is double what we've been doing.
I'll second yooperdave 's idea to clean.
I did ours before the burning started this year, and what a difference from the last couple months of last year. Much more quiet.

Just to say it, my owb blower was pretty loud and vibrated hard when cold shortly before it seized. Figured the (sealed) bearing spit its grease and gave up the ghost.

Those little squirrel cage fans get dust in the fins. I clean mine every year or either performance suffers, or that and the fan gets noisier.

Yes, the dog hair. I love my pups, but their fur always ends up in the fan.

My coworker has rental units and says that the places with cats/dogs need to have the furnace filter changed monthly...we have no animals in the house and can go 3-4 months on a filter (wood furnace)

I agree with pulling the blower and cleaning it...the blower on my Drolet 1400i blower is pretty quiet...until it gets dirty.
That's the main reason I switched from a free standing stove in the fireplace to the insert stove, pulling the old stove out every year to clean the noisy blower (on the back of the stove) was a real PITA!

I had the same problem with my new Jotul insert- it sounded like Sanford & Son’s junk truck with the way it rattled when on at 50-100% speed... the store came back out and pinpointed it, and inserted a pair of little rubber shims which seem to have solved the problem, at least for now. The blower was vibrating the front grate at the air intake, causing the excessive rattle.

I think something along the lines of this because when I just apply slight pressure the vibration stops. It's not the biggest issue but when it starts doing it, drives me up a wall, lol!!

Having the blower on high definitely makes a difference in my house and moves the air. If I keep it on low other rooms don't get much heat nor does the upstairs, set on high for a few hours I get the upstairs warm and other rooms kitchen and living room warm as well.

Thanks for all the input, I think I will give it another good cleaning as we do have a long haired cat and as mentioned blower is right in front of the door so ash falls down in there often.

If the 1800 is the same as the 1400...it falls right in the crack where the blower box cover meets the stove...funnels it right down in there...probably my only/biggest complaint about the Drolet insert stoves!

I believe so brenndatomu looks like they are pretty much identical. Yes I agree that's my one complaint!
