Several on the forum that I have met at Dennis' GTG know that I have owned a Custom Cabinet business for the last 25 years. Today I signed a purchase agreement for my building and will be having an auction probably on February 8th to sell the equipment and contents. I had planned to do this next summer but the stars aligned and I decided it was the right time to do it now. As with any business, it has had good years and not so good years (especially 2008-2009) but i stuck with it and turned things around. One of my best years was 2018 but I paid the price with my health ( over did it and ended up sick for 3 weeks). I am realizing that I'm not getting any younger and the work has taken it's toll on my body. Once everything is sold I'm thinking about taking a month or so off and take care of some projects around the house and maybe a little getaway trip to recharge the batteries. I'll be 55 in a month and will still have to work a few more years. Not sure what I want to do but have several things I'm looking into that are totally different from what i've done most of my working life. In some ways it's scary but I'm looking forward to much less stress and and not being the boss !
Good luck jdude ... hope all of the equipment sales, etc go well and you can settle in to your "battery charging" soon...
Way to go John. I hope this all goes extremely well. Also enjoy a little time off; you have earned it.
Glad the stars aligned for you. At this point the job market is still hot, so you should be able to find plenty of opportunities in other areas of interest. Good luck with whatever your new endeavors are in the future. Oh, and enjoy your time off!
