I am new to the forum. This looks like an interesting site with good info. We moved into our house about a year ago. The home has a US Stove wood furnace (connected to ductwork) in the basement. I figured I'd try and fire it up this year. There were also a few stacks of white oak, red oak and what looks like beech outside. There are three uprooted red oaks on the property that I plan to process as soon as I get some time but from my understanding they won't be ready for a couple years. No questions for the forum yet. Just introducing myself. Good day all.
Welcome, Sluggo! Need an avatar? Welcome to the forum, T.Jeff Veal will be glad to have another Georgia member!
Welcome to the forum Sluggo. I do hope you've checked the chimney and of course, the stove. Make sure all is well. On the wood, this might help: Primer on Woodburning by Backwoods Savage
Welcome to the club, lots of great folks here sharing knowledge and humor. Really is a small world. I have a brother that lives in the Eastanollee area and my niece/her husband lives in the Martin/Eastanollee area. Do you know any Keyes there? Hope your wood furnace works out great for you. Nothing like that wood heat. How long have the oaks been down? Some of the smaller stuff in the tops might be dry. Get it CSS very soon so it can start drying. Good info in the resources section, I see you are reading Backwoods Savage info...good stuff Maybe you would like to check out the "Git'ter done down in Dixie" thread and "Good morning, brothers and sisters" thread. Sharing a little encouragement along the way...so glad to have you.
Please add my welcome, Sluggo , Glad to have you aboard! I went through all my High School in Brunswick, Lots of good memories and lots of friendly people and just a couple of Old Grouches (none on this site)!
Welcome and glad tidings from Nebraska. Good luck not going broke after buying all the chainsaws and other "needed" equipment to save on utilities.
Thanks for all the warm welcomes! Chimney and furnace have been cleaned and inspected. Looking forward to getting started. PS: The "Sluggo" nomer did, in fact, arise from the old Nancy cartoon thanks to my bald head and a certain pancake hat I wear from time to time. Good stuff.
Welcome to the FHC Sluggo Great to have you. Meant to respond yesterday but had a ADD moment. If you need some quality firewood, go see fellow Georgian T.Jeff Veal...best in the state!
