Generator receptacles

    Some portable generators come with a L14-30r receptacle. Some come with a L5-30r. Is one preferred over the other? Thanks

    The L14-30 is 120-240 v 30 amp capable . The L5-30 is 120 v 30 amp only . So, if you plan on running anything that is 220-240 v , you need the L14-30 receptacle .
