So I found this on some public hunting land...... We have programs to help feed the homeless here in South Dakota where you can donate the game you are not going to eat. Why let this go to the coyotes??
Sad to see. Whoever this clown(S) are will probably be bragging to their beer swillin buddies what awesome sportsmen they are
the person(s) who did this are slobs I really dislike poachers if yer gonna poach, at least feed your family with it this makes me sick
They might have had a tag, but leaving the rest to rot is BS in my opinion. This is what minnesotans do around here, sorry if someone lives in Minnesota.
This happens quite often around where i live, the exact identical thing, to both deer and elk. The problem is, IF they catch the person or persons that do this, they Plea out, for a lesser charge by, rolling over on some one else. But, the REAL poacher gets off. Trust me on this, i know of such circumstances where it has happened. There is some good news, on the 17th of Nov 2 people were seen shooting a deer, then driving off, leaving it, when they discovered they were being watched. A good description of the vehicle was given to the state police and 1 week later, 2 people were arrested. I hope i'm right, when i say i think they will confiscate the weapon, the pickup, and the 2 perps will loose hunting privileges for a while.
Mixed feelings on that opinion. Like a CO stated a few years back when asked about specifically "just for meat to feed the family" "I might be able to believe that but the poacher is usually driving in a 30 thousand dollar truck with a 6 hundred dollar rifle and a 6-pak of beer on the seat" Now-a-days, it would be a 60,000 dollar truck!
"On public hunting land" So it was possible it was shot legally? And legally tagged? (Not poached from a vehicle as everyone here is assuming?)
it may have been legally shot but it was not tagged and in most states not recovering the meat is an offence called wanton waste of wildlife ,either way is is awful
well I am NOT a hunter went twice 1 deer 1 elk and they way i remember the rules, 20 years ago, deer buck tag goes on antlers, elk all meat has to be packed out before the head. I found no excitement in hunting/shooting either species, to each his own.
