The help is appreciated Jason. And for everyone else that's given me tips, I really appreciate the advice. I think I'm getting it pretty good at it now. I've been slowly converting a 3/8 loop.
I had been using a 3 square file from Stihl, finally decided to try a new style, got this one off eBay...WOW, I really like it... Filed my chain while I had a break at work...I think it will cut... can't cut the trees at work to see though...lol... Can't wait to try it out...I'll get better with the new file with practice, that is a Stihl chain.
Here you go... Pecan I noodled before filing. After filing... Pine chips Oak chips, first pic was cutting across a crotch These chips were from the big round, thrown from saw on to the splitter
Fresh square ground loop in Box Elder. Same chain cutting off the root ball/stump of a blown over pine. This is what I picked those ribbons of crosscut “chip” from. No noodling, they were xcut.
James, if we get the opportunity to file on a bench, I’d be more than willing to demonstrate. It’s kinda hard to show what’s going on in the woods. Got some new files. Vallorbe. Very expensive but they’re the best I’ve ever used. If anyone would like to buy some, I can connect you with the guy that sold them to me.
