Yes that is what kept me from trying it. I might have been able to hang it from the hook on the blade of the dozer, but it seemed a lot of work to get the log on top of the Y-Log. At the time I was super-frustrated because I was busting 3/8 logging chains again and again due to ground skidding, so I was looking for yesteryear answers. Then I drove by a dealership and saw my log trailer.

It is not that these other ideas would not work, I just went in a different direction with the log trailer.

I think your sled is fantastic. I didn't see this last year.

Mind me asking what angle you cut the front at, what you used to cut the plastic, and how you unrolled it?

    Thank you!

Had forgotten about this thread , I cut mine , rolled and bolted the cone in a November , what a job that was .
I'll do any further barrel projects in July/August or in a 90* shop lol
    A circular works great .

Interesting that this popped up in the thread today. I have been wanting to build or buy some sort of trailer to pull behind the Old Girl. My friend suggested a sled but I was thinking a sled with runners. I rejected the idea of pulling a sled because the ground is usually not frozen hard here and sleds with runners would rut out the road. However, a flat-bottom sled might just be the ticket since it doesn’t have runners and the load is spread out over a wide area so it shouldn't damage my dirt road.
