My wife stayed at our daughters last night so she could watch the grandkids while our daughter and son-in-law went Black Friday shopping. They left at 4 AM and just got back. 13 1/2 hours of shopping? Heck. I couldn't even shop that long at a Beer Store with free samples. I may be able to tolerate a 1/2 hour of shopping.
With the title, I thought you might be the power-shopper in question. That would've been a bit weird.
No, not weird, shopping sucks. Parking, crowds, walking all the way through large stores to get to what one needs and many other shoppers are irritated and not so kind. I tried to buy a couple things online today but I didn't see any on sale. That said from the late 90's - mid 2000's I used to go to the Kmart Grille for breakfast and buy poinsettias. They closed the grille . Years ago I went to LaBelles at 5am for tv stand, guess that would make that 1998 after we put on an addition to the house. Did the 5 am again in 2009 for bigger jeans at Old Navy when I was pregnant, they were $7. The old Blazer turns on a dime and rocks navigating crowded parking lots
Some of the cousin’s wives were battle planning yesterday. I am thinking don’t you have about all you need in life? Now you are just replacing things.
I've never been out at any time shopping on Black Friday. Unless you can count a necessity run to Harbor Freight last year for a tool I needed at that moment. I'd rather suck start a shotgun than go out shopping on the middle of the night.
I haven't either. But I must confess.. I did put in a purchase for an Amazon Fire Stick 4K UHD today. $25 today vs $50 last week.
We made a stop at an "outlet mall" on the way downstate today. Absolute madhouse. We needed some bread to make stuffing and the Pepperidge Farm store there has it cheap. Perfect for stuffing. Anyway, I'm happy to report we got out alive (which is why I'm able o give the report). Ignored the crowds and just did our thing. Took about 1/2 hour, which is about 20 minutes longer than usual. 13.5 hours......uh, nope. No way in hades.
I finally have high speed internet for the first time as of a few months ago and bought a firestick too. I can find almost anything I we want to watch for free, if not and it costs $ we don't need the tv on anyway. Well, everything but the show Sourwood 's crime show is free, it looks like it I can see it next year for free. I also figured out how to listen to music via Amazon Prime and great to revisit songs I loved as well as listen live to radio shows I like (one talk show in particular the one AM station I get on my boom box often switches to sporting events in the afternoon so I miss the last part of the show).
I'll shop online on black Friday, but aside from a liquor, bread, butter, pickles, milk, and cereal run today I didn't do any black Friday shopping. I did cut up the pine tree that got snapped off at the base from the wind gusts we had the other day. I could've broken out the maul and done some Black Friday Chopping.
I did a touch of T'giving scrounging whilst on a store run yesterday, but fortunately didn't have to leave the property today.
I'd break into hives at the thought of actually "shopping"... ... when I head to a store for anything... it's a beeline straight to the item, kinda in a trance... and, back out asap... drives my "shopper wife" nuts...
I could tell my stories about Black Friday shopping; maybe I will post the first one and see how it goes over.
I did end up participating in some Black Friday shopping yesterday. I bought a $100 gift card for my sales coordinator online from Target so I could get a 20% off coupon.
Well, I went out shopping, I got psyched up after reading the circulars. I went to Kohl's about 9A and got a lot of kid clothes, and then Bob's for some stuff for my husband. Neither store was particularly bad.
