My 7 year old daughter is a wonderful helper. She stacked about 80% of this wood. I hauled it up and threw it on the floor and she stacked it. It wasn't voluntarily, but she did it cheerfully and energetically. I am proud of her.
That's great to have enthusiastic help. She's probably pretty proud of her Dad too. Nice Ingersol too. I have two 1992 3014's that are beasts.
It's a two story brick farmhouse that's about a hundred and forty years old. When we bought it about 8 years ago it was gutted. So we have been putting it back together slowly but surely. I just put the deck/pergola on this fall to help with firewood storage by the house for the winter. So running behind getting it all brought up from the back.
I don't know the year, but it's a 222 that I picked up from my local small engine shop for pulling the trailer. I really like it for what I do with it.
If you haven't already been there, check out: Case Colt Ingersoll Lawn and Garden Tractor Forum Another great bunch of folks there.
Thats great dirtdevil If you need a babysitter, i have a bunch of splits here that need stacking! Dont mind watching her for a weekend!
I'll second this. Though she didn't volunteer as you said she did a good job. Never to young to learn the value of hard work.
Yep. We took some breaks, talked about doing the hard work one piece at a time, and not giving up. And then she had to time each load to see what method worked better or faster.
Yeah, a lot of our wind comes from the West and either north or south in the winter, so the tarp hopefully will keep the snow off
Good job, Dad! My first used to enjoy stacking, last year or so before she went to college it was too much with her busy life. #2 is close though, she's almost 3 and great at picking up splitter trash and handing me splits to load the stove. #3 is only seven weeks or so, so he's got a little ripening to do before he can get after it. They all love sitting by the fire though, so we have that going for us.
I know the feeling dirtdevil, i bet she was so proud of her work. Memorable pic you got there, nice job
Nice to see her using her head to figure out how to stack the wood higher. Work like that helps her develop her problem solving skills.
