This is the first decent sized tree that I have cut down. It was a few weeks ago but I didn't have my phone on me then and daylight is not something that is around much now days.

Nice job! Success, as you're still around to take the picture, LOL.

Gourley - good job on getting it safely down. :salute:
Any chance you can get a pic of the stump from the side? Don’t see much hinge wood, which would be a concern in the future felling of more trees.

Looks like a perfect felling based on the cuts and hinge. Wish mine looked like that! Nice job Gourley

Good going Matt! Give a holler sometime & I'll stop down your way on a weekend if you've got more to drop.

Nice Job Gourley ... it’s down and your safe.... I’m still learning and only have a few under my belt. GTG’s are a good prime location to pick up pointers...

I still wanna try renting a bucket Chvymn99 and taking a tree down. That looked like fun Chvymn99 . One of my step daughters has a dead ash she wants to take down. Medium size tree but on a hill. Dunno if the rental lift would work. May do it when ground is frozen.

Hinge wood does look very very thin. Did you use wedges?

I will get you a picture of that next time I am out there with some daylight.

Something I didn't even think about until after pulling up my sleeves, wiping the sweat off my face and taking a short restroom break out in the woods. I would say having it my face/around my eyes was the worst part of it.

Yes 2, the vines at the top holding on to nearby trees were really keeping it standing up for a little while.

Be careful; my wife may actually give me a day off some time.

Using a bucket looks like a lot planning and work. Sure is fun to watch someone go at it up in one of those.
