Windfall beech. Much easier to move with sled in snow. Planning to store like this for winter then split in spring.

I've had about 100 loads like this and can't say I'm real happy about it. Ash bore has taken most every one around here out and I hate to see that. Can't stand to see it go to waste though. Literally tens of thousands of ash trees will simply rot up but on our ground they will get used at least.

Here is a nice cookie I got from a neighbor who I helped cut and split his largest Ash tree. Going to make a table out of it eventually and so far hasn't cracked up too bad.

I was lucky a couple of years ago to score some dead standing oak. It was almost ready to burn.

Mushrooms are doing well. Just cut some logs in half the other day to get ready to sell for the Christmas season. Looks like really strong mycelium colonization in the logs. Got about 30 trees marked out back to take for another set of 200 logs this year. Seems to be a manageable number for us for each season - 200 a year. That’ll put us at about 800 logs total by the time the first sets of logs have come to the end of their production life.

Thanksgiving morning rounds. I thought it was Ash, the splits don’t look like Ash. The rounds split really easy with the Fiskars

Center looks like Walnut but the bark is a little different than our walnut here.
