Do you know if that house had a slate roof on it once? It looks like there is a turret roof on the right side of the house. Are you installing cut pattern shingles to match the original?

Loading the mowers and lunch... my honey and I and Giz are off to the cabin to check things out, get the hay knocked down and start clearing the many tools and stuff left from the build that are still there. Porcupines have been moving closer over the last 3 years. They are the first varmits I'll be checking for. Looks like it's gonna be sunny and 50-60 this morning, maybe 70 by noon. Perfect.

    Another view from my office.

    IMAG0484.jpg

I'm standing on the peak of the cupola on the boat house. Some may have seen previous pics of this house, but this is the best perch I've had yet for one.

I'll get some pics of the boat house tomorrow.

Started this yesterday with one other guy.

    Going to finish today.

Good questions fish. Don't know all the answers but will tell you what I do know. Never a slate roof as far as I know. We had stripped a small porch roof to do some repairs and found a small bank of cedar shakes that were roofed over, I'm guessing a wood roof. And the second story walls under the windows on the right in the pic show the existing shingles. They are not a cut pattern, just a simple step pattern. Staggered 1" every other. Outside corners knitted. We call the turret a tower. Same height as 3rd flr

Have fun today Stinny. Glad you guys are getting away and enjoying that camp. Took a quick look at your camp building thread. Will check it out more thoroughly later tonight after getting some serious work done today. Have a great one!
