I never thought to try and sell them, but I made a bunch of cookies like that for my sister. She used them to decorate at an outdoors themed party. She put them under plates, under serving bowls... I guess they were the hit of the party..... Who knew..?
I've seem similar ads before. I thought the pieces were at least coated with epoxy or something to seal them
I sold about 30 red oak and chestnut oak cookies this summer to some people for their daughters wedding. $1 a piece.
I sold 20 ash slices about 6-8" diameter last year for $50, and another $30 worth at a garage sale this past summer. I don't normally make and sell these but I probably should - it's easy money. What's worse is if you find these in craft stores, you will see why people will gladly pay $1-5 apiece for them from someone off Craigslist - The store prices are ridiculous.
Live edge board are going for $50 a foot........................... I do not think this is too weird, I'd pay a dollar for a chocolate chip cookie. Might have to make some and bring them to the craft lady in town, she buys my old window sashes.
The use of wood cookies for decorations (wedding, etc) has been happening around here for a quite few years now.
funny -it's a ton of work to make cuts or peel off the bark- basically it's double dipping by the seller. Course sawing through the bark shortens the life of a blade, sharpness wise but $50/ft ? I haven't spent any time relating that to board ft though which adds in the thickness and width.
We made some centerpieces for our daughter's wedding several years ago, cut on the bias, then sanded smooth and sealed...that was some work...
