Is there a disease that’s specific to maples? I have been noticing quite a few maples dying in our area SW VA. Once I see the tops dying, I’ll css as quick as possible for some decent firewood that dries really quick
We have a black spot disease on my sugar maples, but it doesn't seem to hurt them. Don't know of anything else out there.
Cant say anything of significance on maples here in Southern Connecticut. Red maples seems to get lots of spots on leaves, but thats all ive noticed. The beeches around here have some disease which is slowly killing off some. EAB has hit the ashes around here too. Unfortunate that has happened to the trees in your area but G4U that decent wood is at your disposal. Any pics creek chub ?
Some of the reds around here either die off for no apparent reason, or they get a section of trunk that gets what I would call dry rot. They slowly bend in half over the course of a couple years and eventually die. No ideas on what causes it.
