I haven't messed with the pole barn in about a month. Just did some little things here and there. For this winter I'll hang tarps at each bay to keep most of the snow out. I got the left one done. I also closed in the right and read eaves, hung some shelves, added a bunch of knee braces along the front and carriage bolted the beams on top of the timber locks that were already there. In a few weeks I'll run everything out of fuel and finish the woodstove install.

I'm working on it. Plenty to put in it yet that's been all over the place. Unseen from the picture behind the cub cadet and Dawn's Honda is the splitter & Bush hog

Looking good. How about a pic of the area next to your house, where the toys had been sitting? You must lots of space there now.

I'm quoting my own post to see at what temp I put the lamp on from last year. (I think I ran the lamp 3x last year) We're down to 11 chickens, 10 stay on the roost one always sleeps in a nesting box. Having less girls than last year, the coop will be a bit cooler. I won't put on the lamp just yet. Later in the week we'll see -5° during the night. I lost one of my girls during the last temperature change last week- not sure why, but it was warm then boom super cold in just a few short hours. Weird.

Took the week off. Needed a few days to get some stuff done before winter sets in...short week anyway.

Mucking out the shoulders on the road. My neighbor came out to help with his little bota... that was nice. 20191126_103246.jpg

Got a load of stone for a path that follows a drainage. Truck got stuck, had to call in another truck to pull him out. Going to spread the stone out tomorrow.

Been working on that area where the tractor is too, built a small retaing wall out if cedar logs and filled in with dirt to make the area a little bigger and less tippy for the tractor.

Yep. Was perfect for this job. The road hadn't had any upkeep in years. There was a plow wash berm of gravel on either side, grown up with weeds and small saplings, we got some major ice build up in the road last winter because the berms were just holding the water in the road. I just backed over it and dragged it out into the road, my neighbor scooped it up a dumped it over the bank. We'll see how the road holds up this winter, could probably use 4-5 inches of material for the whole 1/4 mile length:emptywallet:

Always big things to do when you build new and live in from the road. So many added expenses when you build as opposed to buy a home already established. I didn't know if I would ever get the grounds the way I wanted them. Lost count of how many truckloads of fill I had brought in. Having no power equipment, I had to hire all the digging and grading down.
I hope you share more pictures next spring as project moves along.

It must have been a long day for me at work today- I had to re-read this five times. Does he hunt?? I didn’t see anything about hunting or food plots. How would you use a box blade for a dead deer?? I was so confused. But I’m back up to speed, now!

I saw your post about your son's house build, looks very nice, you should be proud esp since it sounds like he did a lot of the work himself.

Nah, well maybe you had a long day. I should've worded it better. From my little phone, I couldn't see it so well and was asking if it was a box blade. Then I thought how I was quoted a great price this past spring from everything attachments, kubota orange & free shipping, but.... it was an 8 week back order. I didn't pull the trigger thinking, oh I'll find just a good of a deal and guess what, I got nothing. :headbang:

I just spoke to someone about doing the same to our 1200' driveway. He says a truckload of gravel per 100' will be about 4" of depth.

So at $365/load your 1/4 mile would need about 13 loads...so about $4,745 in material.

I have the same issue, my driveways been plowed through enough winters its lost enough material to be slightly lower than the sides now...so water pools in a few spots pretty bad. Next spring/early summer were going to get the gravel brought in and this guy will grade and compact a crown on it... hopefully solve the problem!

You were not alone! I had to read your post twice before I caught on, too. Oh, Deere!
