Went back this afternoon to cut some more from the tops. A quick load before my bill paying job.. XS 261 C-M did the lions share of cutting. Broke out the AWOL 562XP to noodle one larger piece.
I stopped by the timber landing to look over what tree tops and cut offs are going to be available. A little sloppy on the log roads so I didn’t venture much. The split up trunk must have cracked in two when it was dropped. It’s about 24” by about 60 feet. When it is left behind, it will be the first one to cut. Half the work is done. Tree tops are next
Sourwood, what kind of trees are in your second pic? Those are amazingly straight, round, long, limb-free trunks. Is it ash? Whatever it is, gosh, those are nice logs.
Yawner of course they are removing ash, but the owner is taking out a bunch of stuff. There is a lot of maple and oak. They are doing an aggressive harvest this time. The owner intends to sue the county for their timber policies, which exceed the State requirements. one bro g, you can’t harvest within so many feet of a neighbor’s property line. I suppose so it the free view they get of you woods is still pretty. Keep in mind, there is nothing to prevent you from leaving old appliances and cars, signage with vile words. OR cutting them down for firewood, or just because you want to. dumb.
Thats gettin after it GrJfer . I take it that one trunk is yours to take as well? Some nice looking wood for sure. How many more trips do you think? Your saws are very photogenic BTW!
buZZsaw BRAD, unfortunately that trunk will be going to the mill for his use. There is still a lot of firewood in the tops, and it's easy to get.
