Thanks, brother. I need to get the inside measurements, get a rough idea of capacity. I know it's more than a 55gal drum...
Nice looking work sir! Us hoarders are the kings and queens of repurposing! Never have used or scrounged plastic pallets. Good score on the strapping.
Thanks, seems pretty tight, guess when I get it full, we will see. Maybe someone better at math can figure it out, pallets are 43x43, so inside measurements are 43" cube, how much will it hold
yup. The one i recently made was 42"cube(inside dim) and i calculated a face cord . I will mound the top so a bit more. Its open faced and i stack the shorties and backfill with chunkies/cookies. They seem to fill up too fast. Need another few.
We have one rack for our wood I stack like that. I think it was built with smaller pallets, so I stack outside rows and fill in middle.
The thing a hate about bins is bending over to empty them and filling them up neatly (like we do). Ive discovered the open face concept a few years back and it works well. Sometimes i have quantity of 12-14" shorts and will sell them as a face cord. Use the 10-12" for the face stack on the cube.
Good idea. Sometimes we have enough shorts to stack the ends like that. I only have one more drum left, I thought I would try this way. Should dry good with all the air flow, I keep a piece of conduit on hand to help straighten out the pieces in the bottom.
We have had several calls for wood this year... these 2 loads went to repeat customers for several years This load went to a new customer, a lady that went to school with my hunny. This cord load was pre-ordered last year, lady and her husband had been getting a pick up load a year. Cut to 15". This load we carried over to our friends in Alabama, his wife was hurt when a tree fell on her car. This load went to a new customer. Found out they were going to burn it in the fire pit...... I told her we could bring them a load of wood for the pit at a better price than premium wood Cord load we delivered this morning to lady and her son, been getting a pick up load for several years. We did one more cord load to the hunting camp, but somebodyforgot to ... This load went to a new customer. When we dropped it of, they were already asking how far ahead of time to did they need to place another order......
If I could buy wood from you, I'd be tempted to give up hoarding! Very pretty loads, you must be emptying some sheds. What's with all the green leaves down there?
Yes ma'am, the big shed might have 1 1/2 pick up loads left, another rack is empty, one rack has a face cord left. Still got 2 racks full. Some of the green leaves is bamboo, the water oaks haven't dropped their leaves yet, even though we have been down to 27°...
T.Jeff Veal You guys may need to name your operation "the Oak-ie Dokie Ranch". Looks like you have a great source for quality oak! Interesting that someone ordered ahead to get custom size wood just an inch below standard, I imagine you had to make that cord up in one session and set it aside. Great job, and my favorite pic is that nice looking payload in a gorgeous double axle trailer!
Thank you sir. We cut most of our wood 18", mama can handle that size, fits our stove and most of our other customers. Have a couple that need 16" and one lady that has to have 14" or shorter. One reason I cut logs and bring it home like that, a little more flexibility. We cut that load of 15" in Dec '18...that dump trailer has been a great addition to our wood hoarding arsenal...
Had a great day, we delivered a pick up load of oak to a lady that goes to church with us by 9:00, then a guy that works with me got here about 10:30, we finished splitting his load of pecan to cook a hog with... Then we had a hunting camp wanting firepit wood. Loaded the dump trailer up with big chunks and some of the big cull pile. When we got there, he asked "Do we get all that" ...Yep...said that would last them 2 yrs... they were happy. Then went over to our son's house and pressure washed his house as a surprise for him. I think it's time to rest a bit. My secretary let me forget to take pics of the other 2 loads...but it did happen.
Nice work sir! How many different species do you sell as smoking wood? I just sold that cherry. Been thinking about putting some hickory aside and was wondering about the sugar maple ive been splitting.
......and then you slept? Any pictures of that? haha ...I bet you sucked the air out of the room last night. Sounds like fun and the pig looks incredible!, but that would be a lot in one day for this city boy.
