I stole some pellets from a friend to try as kindling for my wife to use or myself in a pinch. I dumped 3 cups or so on top of a flat split and built the fire around it. Lit up the torch and away she went. It was a pine fire with 2 big chunks of hickory in the back. Pellets seem to do great. I wonder how a half a bag or 1/3 of a bag would burn and would it create enough heat if you needed to in an emergency.

Now that's a hopper! Are you at liberty to post where that is?

I live and work in town here, its the Mason NH elementary school. Nice little town theres a pretty famous breakfast place here called Parkers Maple barn and theres also Pickity Place and thats a small brunch/lunch place tied into and related to Little Red Riding hood somehow. Food at both places is amazing and parkers is rediculous dont plan on doing anything the rest of the day portion size is crazy.

Im getting a delivery today but i wont fire her up till January when the cold is more consistent. Shell go for a little over 2-3 weeks on a full load. Cheaper than oil.

Yes. I'm sure Pallet Pete has used pellets many times in his stove.

Nice pellet hoard! What are those NFL plaques? Those look old school. I love stuff like that (especially the Broncos one).

Plaques are from the late 60's/Early 70's...I believe they were originally sold by Sears. They are a little rough condition wise as they were hanging in a bar we bought many years ago, Nicotine did some damage!
I had a couple other college ones, but gave them to a couple friends. The nfl ones are a complete set.

If I ever decide to get rid of them, I will send you the Broncos.

Ooh ooh... I'd be happy to assist you with getting rid of the PITA Patriots plaque, should the day ever come.

Yup mainly for kindling in the woodstove. It gets a very hot coal bed going fast.

We also have a pellet stove that we use on the really cold nights to offset the wood or when we are sick. It’s far easier to run the pellet stove when your sick than the wood set and forget.

After we tried out pellets as kindling we don’t use much actual kindling anymore. I do split and keep a few boxes and use it from time to time. Kindling is still nice to have but for the most part pellets do the trick and fast. One bag will go all winter if not longer for the stove.

I thought about getting a pellet stove years back but there is just something about hoarding, splitting, putting another log on the fire that made me go wood burning stove.

Exactly, a big pile of pellet bags stacked up does nothing for me. I could justify one in my daughters basement apartment but I insulted it so good I really dont have to. Electric fireplace does great. I also thought about one of those a/c units with the heat pump in them
