Some of the ash is below 20% now. The majority will be stacked and used for 2020-2021 and beyond.

Facilities job in my town elementary school fell in my lap with great benefits and retirement and started thinking about how i would feel being up in a tree as i got older. School is a great job, i work 5 mins from homemy youngest goes there. I work 5:30 to 1:30 and cut wood after. Summers are layed back. But my true passion are the leaves and gravel under my feet and surrounded by trees

Smart move IMO. Seems like your firewood does okay for you too. How long have you been out of the trees if you dont mind my asking?

It’s a 27 ton Troy-Bilt with a 160 Honda engine. It always starts on the first pull and splits whatever you put on it. Accepts up to a 24 inch piece of wood. My Dad has never had any issues with this splitter other than normal maintenance. The cycle time is fairly slow but that also makes the splitter safer use in my mind. He wielded a piece onto the log tray to help keep wood in place and off of the engine. I believe he got it a LOWE’S 8 + years ago. 40D7BF86-07D6-42E5-892D-537CDEAC8778.jpeg

Looked forward to doing this all day. Weather got cold and windy this afternoon and I almost wussed out. But the stack behind me blocked the wind and the splitter coved the wind noise so it was actually pretty fun!:dancer:the wife thinks I’m nuts. There’s just something about the light from lanterns......heartwarming to me. 77645212-D617-4055-B7CD-B9E8C95FB6CE.jpeg 57CFF42A-0905-4676-B3C7-14212657DCBF.jpeg 1FCDCDC4-84BD-4083-B8DA-DA6D52270DF2.jpeg

I got back after it again tonight. It’s rather enjoyable working outside when everyone is in bed. I get home after dark and we have three little ones to take care of. By the time they are in bed it’s normally after 8:00. Good exercise before I call it a night.

I use a 30 gallon drum with holes drilled in it, its funnerer with that going and sometimes attracts the wife and kids to come hang out. I burn bark, boxes, scraps, punky stuff and yard branches

I have a bunch of Coleman lanterns, could easily be hung from the rafters of the wood shed. Can't believe I never thought of that. The LED lightbar and work lights kind of make them obsolete though. Downside is that the tractor is using up diesel.

Obsolete or a sentimental trip back to a simpler time.

I think the lanterns are cool, makes me think when my dad took us camping or when we tracked deer at night when he was teaching my brother and i to hunt and track

And the hiss from the lanterns provided a comforting backdrop of sound as we kids drifted off to sleep on family camping trips!

Welcome to the Night Owls Club...
My shifts got changed from 8 to 12 hrs back in March, getting off @ 7PM. We beat the GA summer heat liked this. Sweat a little at 80° and turn the fans and lights on. IMG_20190525_220532014.jpg IMG_20190821_123656.jpg IMG_20190527_213426224.jpg

Out splittin with the yard truck today I noticed the plow lights on the front. Not in use anymore. Thought to myself hey use these old dogs.
They’re halogen tho. From some reading I did awhile back I came away with the perception halogen takes quite a bit of juice. Dropped that idea. For $20 you can get two LED spotlights.

My mother in-law is temporarily living in a cabin behind our house. She has recently been plagued by a woodpecker waking her up. Guess she doesn’t understand the obsession...
