Ok, but is it just one giant pile that's shaped like a mountain? Is it more spread out? More like a windrow? I would think that will have an impact on how well his fan/pipe system works.

Like a windrow, arched almost half circle i guess because of room.

I am all for passive ways to cure your firewood. Time, solar or such. If you have a pressing need to cure it quicker than maybe a very low draw fan and ducting could help, but using any kind of dino or electric heat seems self defeating. "I know, I'll buy propane for a propane heater to produce nice cured firewood so I can burn it and lower my propane heating bill".

I'm just surprised that a firewood vendor would go to this much trouble.

Happy customers vs unhappy customers. Each one has a cost attached but only one has a payback down the road.

Windrows work well enough for me but I would venture to say it would speed it up some

Boy, all this free wood is getting expensive.
Maybe if you wanted to increase air flow at no cost you could cut 4" corrugated pipe into 16" pieces and randomly put them in your stacks in place of a split creating voids for air flow to the center of your cord, not to be confused with a face cord, musical chord......................

i had thought about wrapping a wood stack with plastic/tarps etc and have a fan blowing though one end. Nothing fancy maybe a commercial fan with no heat. Cant season the stuff fast enough when you're trying to sell it right Woodwhore ?

a window box fan isn't going to have much of an effect on a pile of splits, you'd need several horsepower to move a respectable amount of air . One horsepower is roughly 750 watts.

For the greatest efficiency you would need to build a duct system so that all the air flows through the stack; you don't want to be paying money to move air that doesn't flow through the stack. Another factor is going to be the water content of the air you are pushing through the stack; one reason this summer was so miserable here was the high humidity day after day.

That “wood” certainly help with airflow. Somebody should try that. I think its a good idea
