Been fighting a cold for the last week or so & just feeling bleh. Worked at splitting some big White Pine yesterday, & then started taking apart some 40" Red Oak. Noodled up the Red Oak & hand split it rather than moving to the splitter. Went pretty well, got 4 more of these monsters to go.
Sometimes i pretend im me! If knot free and frozen shouldve gone like cake. Whats your hand splitting weapon of choice amateur cutter ? Hope you are well soon!
In the third pic the log next to my truck measures 44" the other two that the 660 sits on are smaller, about 36". I've got about a 15' stick of that big Red Oak left to retrieve out of a customer property yet. Waiting for the ground to freeze.
None LOL. That's an 8lb trooper maul in the pic, it actually hits well. That stuff didn't split too bad. By the time I get it knocked apart far enough to put on the splitter it's just not worth moving the splitter or the wood. I've got sledges & wedges as well as numerous axes & a 5lb Lowes knockoff of a Fiskers. I like to hand split to a point, but I cut my stuff 24" & a lot of it just doesn't split well. My elbows can only take so much anymore.
Stop by & you can have all you want. I get tired of handling them after a while. I bought bigger saws & kept getting bigger trees lol. I ain't gettin any younger & that stuff gets old after about 10 cord. They do make a pile of splits though.
