Had the Raptor out this weekend after a call from my new BFF tree guy who had 6 trees down, some poplar and birch. Decided to go with the birch for 2 reasons, I don’t have any, and it seems to have more BTU than poplar. Got one trailer full. Anyone know what kind this is? I’m thinking either Grey or River. BTUs are much different between the two.

I was going to say yellow or river. At any rate birches got a bunch of different names locally. Bark kind of looks less like yellow to me but the wood does. I’ve never been inside a river to know what that wood looks like.

Whatever get um split and keep the rain/snow off.

Was thinking yellow birch based on color but this was a big tripod tree. I don’t think the yellow birch grows like that. One lucky birch!

Yellow birch has yellow bark clear to the base of the tree ime. Yours may be one of those river or black birches that we don’t have up here
